Lucy's Cottage, located on 45 acres of private property in the Pisgah National Forest of Western North Carolina is nestled beside abundant trout creeks and hiking trails. Its spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains include Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Rockies. It is an hour from Asheville and 40 minutes from Johnson City, TN. Regardless of what you decide to "do" in the area, this destination is truly the place to unwind and simply rejoice in nature without ambient light! The renovated cottage has two bedrooms, one half bath, laundry room with washer and dryer, gas fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen. There is WIFI, Dish TV, and Roku for watching or streaming your favorite shows and teams. Linens and towels are included in your stay. The house has a wall of windows and a deck for viewing the glorious Blue Ridge Mountains, as well as a pergola with Adirondack chairs and fire pit for added outdoor viewing enjoyment. The cottage is comfortable for up to four adults. There is an additional fee for more than 4 guests. Because of the steep gravel driveway to reach the house, it is not approachable for a motorcycles. We allow two small dogs to stay at the cottage for a daily fee of $25 per dog. We don’t accept any other pets for a cottage stay. There are no exceptions. This “pet fee” will be requested in the Airbnb “resolution center” after you arrive. It will not be reflected in the Airbnb reservation calculations.

This was my 1st time staying at an airbnb. Wow, what a great 1st experience. Bonnie & her family were so gracious, kind, and helpful. Do to my own fault, I got lost on my way up the mountain. I performed an impressive 3-point turn right into a ditch. I was so frazzled & didn't know what to do. I called Bonnie & asked her to call a local tow truck driver, because I had messed up. She called a local tow truck company for me. She saved my day. Then, Bonnie & her son came down the mountain to wait with us... and she brought ice cream pops for my 11 year old daughter & myself. It was so kind and endearing. I was so frazzled & she handled the situation like a pro. Thank you, Bonnie, Al, & Tom for such a great stay. We can't wait to come back for a visit!
The place was so cute! Very private with a beautiful view. The host was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely rent again!

Lucy’s Cottage is perfectly provisioned with everything you need and tastefully decorated with comfy furnishings. The tranquility of northern Mitchell County is wonderful. No traffic noises and no light pollution. From the cottage, you can look out over the hills and hollers and watch the river of fog recede in the mornings and the thunderstorms roll by just over your head in the evenings. We loved it. This is a good place to sleep in and to treat yourself to no agenda other than to rest and relax.

Local attractions include the Toe Rivers for rafting and swimming, and the Appalachian Trail and Blue Ridge for hiking. Big Rock Creek, "the" destination for many trout fisherman, is close by. There are orchards and wineries that highlight local musicians and artisans all year long, while local towns sponsor seasonal activities, such as craft fairs and outdoor concerts. Bakersville, Spruce Pine and Burnsville, the closest towns, have many shops that showcase local artist, to include potters, painters, jewelers and other media. Two times a year, December and June, there is a TRAC (Toe River Arts Council) tour, which lists studio addresses of local artisan's studios for visiting and purchasing art directly. The Parkway Playhouse in Burnsville is a local success for performing artists, and is open in season. Many new restaurants and breweries have opened and promote "farm to fork" menus. The area is renowned for it's minerals and gems, highlighting a summer gem festival. The historic Blue Ridge Parkway closes November through March, as do some local shops, which means it is even quieter in the mountains.
There is no Uber to rely on, nor public transit. You will need a vehicle that can handle gravel and hills, and in season, snow!
