The Brooklyn Museum is up the street, as are the fantastic Botanic Gardens and the Brooklyn Central Library, and at least 3 metro stops/subways leading in practically every direction. We spent 3.5 months there. easy commute into the city/manhattan. Close to subway/Trains. Communication with Zoesarah and Anu was easy, friendly and always promptly. Location was nice. Good apartment while spending a semester in New York. Worked well for 3, best for 2. third room a bit small. Thanks Zoesarah and Anu! We enjoyed staying with you in Brooklyn.
The location was perfect, and the hosts were particularly proactive and responsive the entire stay. Excellent communication.
The accommodation was very pleasant for our slightly longer than 3-month stay in New York. We moved to New York for a semester due to our studies and there were three of us in the apartment. Overall, the apartment is very comfortable and nicely furnished. The kitchen is very nice and works perfectly, everything is there that you need, as well as the bathroom. It was only sometimes a bit cramped for three and the very small room is definitely too small. For 2 people the apartment is more suitable. Otherwise, everything fit except for a few small things like the heating and air conditioning. Kind regards from Germany.
This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a place for a couple of months in NY. It can’t be in a better location of Brooklyn, blocks away from Prospect Park and many great restaurants and coffee shops. Many subway lines are 5-15 min walking distance from it. There is also a new supermarket right across the street. The only downside to the new supermarket if you are a light sleeper is their trucks and noise at 5-6am, so we switched over to the room next to the kitchen and that did the trick, since it does not face the street, so much better for noise. Anu and Sarah were always available and helpful as well, their communication is excellent. If I have to come back for work to NY for another month or two, I would definitely stay there again (they have great wifi too).
As original Brooklynites, we've lived without strict neighborhood distinctions, the lines were always blurred, which provides more cohesion and pride in our borough /town. Yet, here's a "general" area reference for visitors:
A few close "neighborhoods" that we border & (walk to) all the time (yet commute (train/ drive) to many more than this!): Prospect Heights (home), East: Crown Heights, West: Park Slope, Gowanus, Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, North: Fort Green, Clinton Hill, Downtown Bklyn, North-East: Bed-stuy aka "Bedford"
Further North: Williamsburg, DUMBO aka "Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass," etc are a bit further, North. We walk to them too, but think the average person may want to hop on the train or bus....
South: our crown jewel (Prospect Park), not a neighborhood, but a destination in itself (& just a few blocks away!) = picnic, read, exercise (walkers, runners, skaters)- all welcome, sports, concerts, entertainment, zoo, carousel/ merry-go-round, weddings, horse back, etc, etc!
