Black Bear was built in 2009. The cottage features an open living/dining area with a gourmet kitchen, a master suite with a king-sized bed and bathroom with a shower and jacuzzi tub, and a second bedroom with a queen bed and second full bathroom. There is a lovely screened-in porch overlooking the stream, and a fireplace in the living room. The all-wood interior of this cabin in addition to its deluxe features and view of the river makes it a wonderful forest retreat.

100 percent loved out stay in this stunning cabin. waking up to the brook behind us, the coziness of the fire place .. and a tip of the line kitchen to cook meals . we can't wait to go back, this truly was a slice of heaven and the perfect getaway the crazines of life. thank you !!

We have stayed all around Big Moose Lake in the last 40 years. Black Bear is by far the nicest place we’ve ever stayed. The decor is perfect. The location next to a burbling creek, on the best lake in the Adirondacks, at the site of an amazing lodge…how do you beat it? It’s a luxury accommodation in Black Bear. We had 2 great weather days and a third day a deluge. The covered porch was a joy in the rain and the fireplace warmed us one cold night. My wife enjoyed the jacuzzi. We all enjoyed the great hikes. Covewood is a special place during the summer and it’s a relaxing and rejuvenated place even in the off season when we visited.

Moose Lake is a quiet lake as there is no public boat launch. Visitors can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and swimming in the warmer months. There are four restaurants in Big Moose, and many more plus grocery stores and other shopping in neighboring Inlet and Old Forge. Please note there is no cell service in Big Mose!
Big Moose is five miles from Eagle Bay, six from Inlet, and 15 from Old Forge.
