Welcome to our secluded, off-grid, little piece of paradise in Boxley Valley. Our cabin runs solely off what the earth provides using solar power and rainwater collection, so conservation of the resources is a must while staying with us. The cabin was built on a bluff line overlooking Cave Mountain, offers stunning views, great for bird watching or just being immersed in nature. We think our cabin is one of the most special places on earth and much love goes into offering comfortable bedding, furniture and supplies. It is off-grid, using 100% solar energy and rainwater, and you can stay connected via phone and internet. That being said, much attention is needed around energy and water use. As our guest, we expect you not to overuse the resources and have a conservative mindset around them as well. We do our best to explain everything when we meet you at check in! The road up to our property is a mile long dirt road that is only grated a couple times of year, we recommend all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. **Please Note: In the summer, the AC can not be ran at night at all, the batteries do not have the capacity to hold up to the power the AC requires. We do have a window fan (intake and outtake options) and a floor fan as well as many windows that can be opened.** The space The secluded 2-story cabin is built on a bluffline on 46 pristine acres. We have added everything you need for the perfect stay. The views are breathtaking and you'll be super close to amazing climbing, floating, hiking and sightseeing. We created both indoor and outdoor seating spaces; the kitchen is well-equipped -- and for sleeping there is one king bed upstairs and a twin size day bed with a pull out twin size trundle as well. This might be the right place if you want to be immersed in nature and privacy, you have a sense of adventure and love bird watching, pristine scenery, rivers, wildlife, quiet. If you don't like the idea of an outdoor shower (the only shower we have), soaking in the indoor clawfoot bathtub may be the better option! Guest access: We will do what we can to meet most of our guests at the property to show you the ropes being that we are completely off grid. You will have access to all 46 acres, the cabin, and the chicken coop/sheds. We offer a full kitchen with all utensils and pots and pans you should need. Fresh, local coffee is provided for you to grind, and we use a french press coffee maker as opposed to an electric coffee maker. The bathroom offers a clawfoot tub, an outdoor shower (note: this is the only shower on the property), covered deck, landline, and wifi (don't forget to enable wifi calling if you'd like to use your phone!). We do not offer a microwave due to the strain it puts on the batteries. Air-conditioned (LIMITED, can NOT be run at night, or past 5 PM, please make note of this when booking during warm/hot months) and heated, or throw open the dozens of windows which surround the house. We have a firepit and a chiminea on the back deck as well, local fire bans are strictly enforced . If grilling is for you, we offer a propane grill. Bring your laptop for movies. There is also a beautiful bluff area to the East of the cabin. Please have a conservation attitude and respect for the earth, as you will be living off its energy. Other things to note We are a designated International Dark Sky area. The wood, including flooring, is all locally-sourced; much of it was harvested from the property. Please let me know in advance if you have particular allergies or sensitivities. We have chosen not to have a microwave because of its demand on the solar power. You also can't use curling irons or such, because the extreme heat could damage the batteries, and please be minimal with hair dryer usage. Please note again, the mini-split can NOT be ran at night at all, it will drain the batteries completely and you will not have power. Thank you! We do not allow pets. We have chickens on the property, therefore to ensure everyone stays happy and healthy, we do not allow pets. We have two roosters and they will crow to announce the morning! We provide a white noise machine by each bed to help you sleep in. They are the protectors of our flock of 10 hens, and the girls will happily provide you with fresh eggs!
