The host ruined our stay. This was a highly anticipated family vacation that we had booked many months in advance. The host contacted us via our personal phone number (not within the air bnb app) the morning of check in to inform us that he and his son would be staying in the shop across the driveway from the lake house during our stay and wanted to work on the dock. Please note that no where in the listing does it mention the owner staying on the premises. Also take note that the google satellite image provided in the listing shows a large yard behind the lake house, the lake house, and the dock. Where that large yard once was there is now a shop with an apartment where the owner stays, maybe 20 yards from the front door of the lake house. Upon arrival we pulled into a driveway full of trucks and trailers, and loud construction noises because they were working on another out building on the property. We unloaded our things and started noticing things that were a little off but we were willing to over look initially. There was a load of laundry in the dryer, there were many personal effects strew about in bathroom drawers, and the propane grill and fire pit were covered in a film of grease and dust. We had access to the garage which was completely trashed and filled with random things all over the floor. To get to the camp chairs in the garage we had to sort through random garbage, laundry, tools, old furniture, and many other personal effects. When it came time to make dinner we realized that the grill was out of propane. We tried to remedy the problem ourselves by grabbing the propane tank from the fire pit but discovered that propane tank was also empty. We contacted the host and they went and got us propane. After dinner we were wanting to go down to the dock but saw the host and his guests using the dock which made us uncomfortable as the listing says "the dock is exclusively yours" and we expected to have it to ourselves. After this sequence of events we decided to reach out to the host to try to find a resolution for the remainder of our stay. We weren't comfortable sharing the property and the dock with the host and had we known that, we would never have reserved the house in the first place. We messaged the host about our concerns and were surprised when he responded aggressively via the air bnb app. Moments after we received his reply he physically confronted us while we were sitting around the fire pit. He immediately started yelling and cursing at my whole family and tried handing us a check and then told us to leave by morning. Had we had another option for a place to stay, we would have left. We considered calling the police but instead called the air bnb safety line. For the next three days the host continued to live in the shop/apartment on the property which understandably made us uncomfortable after our previous interaction. We have photos that support this review. We've used Air bnb rentals all over the world and have never had an issue before. Judging by the previous reviews and their "super host" status, maybe we caught the host in a difficult situation but they also have been unapologetic and unwilling to try to find a resolution. I hope this review can help another family avoid the situation that we were put in.

The views from this home were incredible and very relaxing. It was wonderful to bring the dogs. So wonderful to get to spend the weekend here.

We absolutely loved our stay at the lake house. I would highly recommend this property. When you walk through the door and see the big windows looking out to the lake it will take your breath away. We hop to go back next fall😊
