We had a great stay in Peso de Régua. Catarina was responsive to our questions, and the house was very clean with many amenities. It is high on a hill overlooking the river and town (gorgeous!) and is a steep trek up from the main drag. The entry is at the bottom of the main living space. I would not recommend this house for anyone with mobility issues. It was very comfortable, and my son enjoyed reading by the window and pretending he was from a Jane Austin novel.

It's hard to come up with a description of this space that others will believe. It appears to be a unit in an older palazzo until you go inside. It is actually a full floor of a stunning 19th century home. There are 3 huge bedrooms and 2 large bathrooms in addition to a huge dining/living room. It is close to if not more than 3,000sqft. That was not a typo. The hall is almost 80 feet long and that doesn't count the kitchen and TV room. The furnishings are lovely, the bed is perfect and I made an entire meal for my wife and I in the kitchen. I've used AirBnB from the beginning and this is the most spectacular place I have ever been in. The fact that it is in the heart of the Douro Valley isn't bad either. Just go here.

We had a great stay. Such a great, grand place. Enjoyed rambling around the long hallways and many large rooms. Home was well equipped with everything you could need. Parking in the laneway was a nice bonus. Its a bit tight to negotiate, but we managed fine with our little car. Just a short walk down the hill to a number of decent restaurants. We only stayed the one night, but if we had more time, would stay longer. This place and location would make a good base for drive tour exploring the Duoro Valley.

As others have said, this place is huge, historic, with lots of charm. If you’re renting during cold months, as we did, arrange in advance to have the place warmed up for you. We were cold for a couple hours until help came to supply firewood and to start the propane kitchen heater. Bedrooms have splits, which were easy to operate. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay, and Catarina was kind and responsive. We also appreciated the parking space.

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Catarina's place! Check-in was easy, the home is MASSIVE, and it felt like we were living like a local. Great views! Parking is very useful but tricky if you are driving a low car. Other parking is available right up the street! We were brought bread and cheese/butter for breakfast each morning of our stay which was very appreciated! We would stay here again.
