This one bedroom basement guest suite is self contained accommodation underneath our family home. It has its own entrance with access to an outdoor terrace and small garden. It can sleep up to 4 people, with Twin beds in the bedroom and a double bed settee in the sitting room area. TV for DVD's, a good selection is provided. There is a kitchenette area and I provide for guests a basic breakfast, of cereals, toast, milk butter, orange juice tea and coffee. Plas y Foel is a Victorian detached house situated in Snowdonia National Park. It overlooks the sea and has a public footpath behind the house leading into an oak wood and on up to the mountains. This location is great for people who love walking and outdoor activities. There is also a wide sandy beach 20 minute walk away. Because of its elevated position it has great views from the garden but consequently is not suitable for people with mobility problems. The basement is a quirky snug space with original art works and a unique style. We think you will find it a relaxed easy going space to unwind after exploring the beautiful surrounding area.
Lovely basement flat, has everything you need for a stay, and Jeanette is a wonderful host. We really enjoyed our weekend here.
From beginning till the end great contact with friendly hosts, apartments provide everything for short and long stay. Fantastic area with plenty paths, no point to talk about it, just need to see it. Great, great place.
We had a wonderful stay in Jeanette’s little snug. It was peaceful, comfortable and the design/decor was ingenious! The area is absolutely spectacular and there are many nearby walks. This is also the perfect place for exploring Anglesey, the North Wales coastline and Snowdonia. Jeanette and Mike were excellent hosts and made some great local recommendations. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back (if Jeanette and Mike will have us!) Thank you for a fantastic time 😊
Jeanette and her husband are very friendly and easy to approach. They helped us when our car broke down, they picked us and our bikes up from the motorway and brought us back to the house. Same next day they offered support, for which are very thankful. The place is allocated in the most beautiful and peaceful area in Conwy. The house had everything what we needed for our 4 days trip. The house has amazing view, beautiful flowers and plants all around the place. We would highly recommend this place, there is so much to see and visit. Thank you again to Jeanette and Mike for all they done for us.
Ideal place for hiking — the public footpath starts literally right next to the apartment! We also loved the cozy cottage-feel of the basement apartment. Jeanette was very helpful and friendly, and provided us with great vegan breakfast options. 😁 The only thing to take into account is that it might not be the place for you if you’re 2 metres tall and/or very afraid of spiders. 😉 Otherwise: 10/10 recommend a stay here. Thanks again, Jeanette!
The neighbourhood is very quiet and friendly. Our house Plas y Foel is detached and overlooks the sea, The Great Orme and Conwy Bay. Directly in front of the house is Penmaenmawr Public Golf Course which is a feature of the village, it is a 9 -hole golf course and visitors are welcome to play for a modest daily fee. it also has a licensed bar and restaurant. There are so many walks that are accessible from the house, including neolithic stone circles and standing stones on the hills and mountains behind. (Snowdonia National Park) There are a number of shorter footpath walks around the village or longer walks up onto the surrounding hills. There is also parking at the top of the nearby Sychnant Pass with more walks up into the mountains.
The local Fairy Glen pub is a short walk away where excellent food is served daily. (15 min walk )
Another walk from our house will take you down to the blue flag beach (20 minutes) and at low tide you can walk along the shore to the next village of Penmaenmawr where there is a small cafe on the promenade. Penmaenmawr itself is a pretty village and has a few local shops, A chemist, pet shop and post office, Spar convenience store, bread shop and Betty's Cafe. A Co op store and a Johnny Dough Pizza Parlour. Also a newly refurbished Museum. Penmaenmawr was made famous in the 2nd part of the 19th Century as a holiday destination of William Gladstone (4 times Prime Minister) who visited many times for family holidays.
Alternatively heading east along the beach at low tide there is a great coastal walk to the historic town of Conwy (Europe's finest example of a fortified town with its magnificent castle built in 1285 by Edward I.)
Conwy is 3 miles by road from Plas y Foel and contains many restaurants, cafe's, galleries and artisan craft/gift shops within its ancient walls.
Llandudno town is just 10 miles away, boasting a 19th-century pier, north shore beach, and plenty of shops, restaurants and attractions to choose from.
There is a regular bus service - No's 5, 75, and x5 taking you to most local towns including Conwy Town, LLandudno, Colwyn Bay, or west to Bangor and Caernarfon.
The local train station Penmaenmawr is within walking distance. By car the house is 5 minutes from the A55.
