We stayed at Ricardo's villa over Christmas/New Years and had a great time. The location is a little off the beaten trail but was perfect for us as we don't like the crowds. Security was not a concern as there were lots of neighbours nearby and the villa is completely protected. A car is essential for your stay. The villa is extremely clean and well kept. Everything works. The pool was too cold to swim in until Ricardo turned the water heater on after which it was perfect. We did alot of road biking during our stay and found the location to be great. There is an undeveloped public beach a 10 minute walk away and all of the other resorts are minutes by car. Food and other necessities are closeby and the locals are very friendly and seem to speak whatever language is needed at the time. We highly recommend Ricardo's villa. Enjoy!
