A two-storey traditional stone house, fully equipped, wi-fi included, comfortable and cool, ideal for those who want the experience of the Greek summer in one of the most picturesque mountain villages in the Peloponnese, combining laceful beaches (5 -10 minutes by car), walks on the verdant mountains or the ancient treasures (Olympia, Mycenae, Epidavros) as well as the colorful vibrancy of the neighboring cities (Akrata, Aigio, Patras etc.) The house is built in the heart of Ano Platanos, a 19th century hilly village overlooking the sea. The thick stone walls and stone-paved floors, the wooden ceilings and the old frames are elements of the local architecture we respected. The unique view, the feeling of village life, the surrounding nature and sunlit gardens offer real off the beaten track experiences of the Greek summer in Egialia. This house inspired and gave birth, among other things, to some great writing; successfull TV series such as The Guards of Achaia or The Bypass, films such as Slaves in their Bonds or Illusion, novels and short stories have all been created right here. Soula (Pierrakou), a Greek writer who lived in this house and loved it with all her heart, used to say that vacationing in it always had the magical ability to calm you and recharge your batteries. She was absolutely right! Today this house opens its doors by Yannis, her son and a writer as well, and invites everyone to discover the unique beauties of the area in an authentic and inspiring environment.

We had a great time at Yannis place. The house is very well located, the surroundings are beautiful and Yannis is very responsive.
Old house with Charme - Host was very nice and greeted us personally- and filled the fridge :). Since it was warm we did not need a lot of linen- but we had to look in every cabinet to mix and match for some extra guests - I stayed with 3 kids alone - one week with my mom - one week the house was unoccupied- one week with 10 people - 4 adults /6 kids and we had to squeeze in 6 beds. Not enough towels for 10 guests -too. We are every meal out in restaurant and came only to sleep.
Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt in dem Writers House. Yannis war der perfekte Host. Er hat uns den besten Wein und Käse dagelassen. Es ist das perfekte Haus für einen Urlaub mit mehreren Personen, wir können es nur empfehlen.
The Writer’s House is absolutely perfect. Lovely traditional house in a wonderful village that we fell in love with. Yannis met us in a nearby town and led us directly to the house in the village, he was so great with lots of tips and advice and had placed some much appreciated items in the fridge. The house has everything you need, it is very traditional and the ground floor stayed nice and cool considering how warm the weather was. We stayed for four weeks, spent lots of time in the wonderful restaurant which is a stones throw away and the beaches nearby are so clean and wonderful for swimming in. We had hired a car for the month (much needed) and took advantage of this by travelling as much as we could as there is so much to see and do, the mountains are just stunning with fantastic restaurants everywhere. The wifi allowed us to work most days with regular Teams calls and data streaming. Honestly, we cannot recommend the house enough, if you like simple and traditional things with amazing views then this is the stay for you. We will be back!
The perfect authentic Greek experience if you’re looking for a home away from home (we stayed for 4 weeks!!). Not only is Yannis a very kind and communicative host, he and his family also put so much love into the Writers House. The place is absolutely wonderful. We had so many fun dinners outside. The town, Platonos, is a cute hideaway little village with only a few delicious restaurants. The nearest beaches, supermarkets and other amazing things to do are all a short car ride (a car is a must) away but still everything feels so close. We can not wait to come back someday.

Guests can enjoy this traditional house, the picturesque village carved into the rock and viewing the sea, and the great variety of beauties of the surrounding area: beaches for all tastes, forest paths ideal for trekking , the Waters of the Styx, the Tsivlos Lake, the ancient theater of Aigeira, Zarouchla, Kalavryta and the 'toothed' railway, many mountainous villages and of course, unique beach bars and taverns!
Having some vehicle is not only needed for shopping but also for making many unique excursion around Platanos - experiencing different places and landscapes every day! Lake of Tsivlos (~40 kms) or Zarouchla (~50 kms); gorge of the Vouraikos, Kalavryta (~40 kms), Planitero and the Cave of Lakes (~60 kms); Akrata (10 kms), Aigio (27 kms), Nafpaktos (71 kms) or Patras (64 kms); even to Athens (less than 2 hrs driving).

I have studied History and Cinematography. I am a writer myself; I have written prose, a few Greek TV series and a couple of movies as well. In general, I am a friendly person who likes going out and traveling, good times and friendly attitudes (who doesn't?), loves nature and the sea, and is always interested in learning new things. I am married and I have a son in kindergarten. My motto could be: people and true feelings are what counts; a warm smile or a good friend could be your most valuable reward after all.
