Kathleen was an excellent host, provided clear communication and made us welcome. The home is clean, modern, comfortable, and well-maintained. We hosted Thanksgiving dinner there for a small group of family and the kitchen was superb. If you are a coffee drinker and prefer something other than k-cups, consider bringing your own setup. If you have anyone in your group with mobility challenges, note that the main access to the house from the parking area involves climbing rock steps which are lit with solar lamps. In our case, we simply helped an elderly relative up the steps taking and arm and holding a flashlight.

This home is a truly lovely, sweet, clean and tucked-away little gem. The location is also so very great, as it is close enough to everywhere we at least wanted to go in the Berkshires, yet removed enough to really feel away from it all. The house is lovely, very roomy, and was very clean when we arrived. The host was kind enough to provide more than enough toilet paper; dish, dish-washing and laundry soap; hand soap, and paper towels for our two-week stay. (We always rent homes for vacation and have always had to bring our own over the past 30+ years so this was a nice surprise!) It is in a great location in terms of being convenient to reach Great Barrington, Stockbridge, Lenox, Tanglewood and LOTS of hiking trails. The home is set back a good bit from the road, but the road itself (Rt 23) is a busy road so if you are looking for "peace and quiet" this would not be an ideal location (can always hear passing traffic and woken up during night or early morning a number of times by passing emergency vehicles with sirens, loud motorcycles, and construction vehicles). Communication was fine, although the host lives in Switzerland so the time difference does of course impact response time (just need to keep time difference in mind when communicating.) As the description indicates, there is no air-conditioning and we found the house got very warm during a heat wave our second week there (88 downstairs during day and 80 upstairs at night per thermostats in house) . The weather our first week was lovely so the lack of air conditioners (or ceiling fans or drapes in the house to keep out the sun) was not a problem, but because summers in NE seem to be getting warmer and you never know when a heat wave will hit, I would not stay here again in the summer though would certainly consider staying during another, cooler season.
