Perfect location and great views. A lovely weekend away from it all.
Lovely location and property. Beautiful views in all directions. Friendly and helpful including the neighbours. A previous review said the mattresses were lumpy and old. I think these have been replaced, all very comfy. Big towels, thick duvets, plenty of hot water. All the kitchen crockery, pans, knives, toaster and kettle also seemed new (May 2023). Very well equipped! Lots of interesting and fun things to do nearby. Lots of yummy places to eat. We had a lovely time thanks!
The location is as stunning as the pictures convey. However, the accommodation itself is shabby. not "rustic" or "vintage", just shabby. second hand stuff, thrown together. Bedroom: poor quality mattress - every spring is palpable. grimy plastic kitchen stool for a desk chair. an empty bookshelf that has no purpose, no wardrobe, just four hooks (there's not enough floorspace to open even one medium suitcase, so unpacking is necessary). No extra bedding. no window blind, so at 6am, the sun shines directly into your face. The heating can't be adjusted because the dials on all electric wall heaters are broken. Kitchen: assorted mismatched crockery. kettle and tap crusted with limescale. the woodburner is out of action, "awaiting spare part" - judging by the grubby sign taped to it, it's been like it for months. it's only missing a sealing cord, which you can order from amazon. because of the missing seal, the loud windnoise through the leaking door is incessant and very irritating. The washing machine doesn't spin properly, so everything comes out soggy and there's nowhere to dry anything. Living room: dreay furniture, dreary pictures in dirty frames and filthy windows. when the sun reflects off the dust, you can barely see out. Bathroom: an uninsulated cold store. no general heating, just a fan heater. the floor is freezing. No shower cubicle, the bathtub does have a shower attachment, but there's no wall hook to hang it on. you shower one-handed. Court yard area: overgrown with weeds. debris & leaves from last autumn piled in the corners. Wifi: I knew there would be no internet access but assumed it's because the area is too remote and has no signal. wrong: all neighbours have wifi and there is good 4G signal. not providing internet access in an area as out-of-the-way as this conveys the same attitude that pervades the whole house: cheapskate and neglected.
A stunning location and a darling little cottage, but beware, I have let them know they urgently need to change The mattresses so I recommend you check they have been replaced before booking
