I really love this home and airbnb. However, a few core issues need to be fixed and then it will be perfect. The first is old chipping paint that is all around the house. If you have small or crawling children this would be unsafe. There was also water damage on the ceiling. Just a little more love and renovation would make this place a 10/10.

I stayed in the pink room and when I explored my room, there was a few doors that were weird. The door by the wardrobe literally led to a wall. The door next to it was not tall enough so it looks like they placed a plank to cover the bit that didn't reach and it was locked. Then at night, I heard someone behind that door washing their hands and it turns out that specific door led to the Blue room (maybe the bathroom?) which explains why it's locked. Our bathroom was very outdated and small. The 2 shower heads had a lot of limescale build up and one of them didn't work. The rug on the floor was pretty old and a bit dirty so I didn't feel comfortable walking on it. There wasn't a controlled thermostat in our room either, there was only one for the whole house (which different people stayed at) so it got very cold at night and my sister arthritis and asthma kicked in. I can't say that I would stay here again or recommend it :/

The Ell Hotel is perfectly located a few blocks from the Little Washington waterfront, and is a grand old house that has been renovated to be a mix of old and new. We stayed in the Pink Room which was spacious and comfortable for our family of four. The attached sunroom with fold down loveseat was great for our oldest and Ellen was kind enough to leave a hideaway bed for our youngest. We enjoyed playing pool in the parlor after dinner and the impressive assortment of kids toys in the downstairs sunroom which our youngest played with while we played pool. Ellen also left two cookies for our kids which was an appreciated touch. Overall a great one-night stay!

Such a beautiful and clean place to stay. I would definitely stay again.
