We had a great long weekend at this cosy cottage. The place is absolutely spotless and has plenty of character. The location is perfect for exploring and we enjoyed kayaking on Strangford Loch and took the ferry to Portaferry to walk the coastline there. Our hosts were perfect, very helpful but leaving us to do our own thing. I don’t think the pictures do this cottage justice it’s a perfect place and we hope to return.

Dunhill Cottage has a sign in the kitchen that says "This is a small house with a big welcome" which is exactly true. Everything was comfortable, cosy and clean with attractive decorative touches. We used the wood and coal burning stove on the first night for extra cosiness. The hosts left us a nice welcome pack of essentials (milk, butter) and snacks. Geoff was very responsive, fixing a couple of minor issues that we had in less than an hour. Any downsides are structural and depend on your perspective; anyone taller than about 5'10" will need to duck through the doors (I soon got used to it). It is also a bit in the middle of nowhere, although there is WiFi.

This place is beautiful, peaceful and felt just like home. It is surrounded by amazing countryside, stunning views and the walks around the lough are calming but still exciting. The cottage itself has amazing qualities, such as space, cleanliness, comfort and everything you need for a wonderful stay. The beds are incredible to sleep in, and when you wake up you feel so refreshed! The host gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel at ease. We will return again some day soon.
