This pretty, dog friendly cottage with a courtyard garden is moments from the High Street with it's independent shops, River Ouse and beautiful historic buildings. Lewes is a vibrant old market town nestled in the South Downs and steeped in history perfectly placed for river or South Downs walks. Explore the alleyways off the High St to find unusual pubs, restaurants, cafes and antique shops. Lewes Castle is also close to the cottage and Anne of Cleves House is a 10 minute walk through town. The front door leads to the compact living room and from there the tiny modern kitchen opens to a pretty courtyard - a sun-trap perfect for morning coffee or evening drinks. A quirky narrow staircase leads upstairs from the kitchen to the gorgeous bathroom with walk-in shower and distant views towards the Downs. This is a beautiful warm cosy boot hole in the centre of Lewes with everything you could ask for. Whilst the home is small it caters beautifully for two people with a really well appointed kitchen and beautifully spacious bathroom. The bed is so comfortable!
Julie was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. A very clean, cozy cottage in a safe, central location! Comfortable size for 2. We walked to the castle, supermarket, train station, etc... Will definitely stay here again!

Great two days away with my dog , the cottage is ideally positioned close to the town centre. It's a fantastic bolt hole from which to explore Lewes and the surrounding area. The cottage was spotless and the courtyard garden was the perfect place to enjoy a cold beer after a long day of walking in the local hills. Julie was very helpful with parking instructions. Would definitely recommend. Thank you!!

The cottage is in a pretty side street just off West St and is in a conservation area. There can be some noise from the nearby main road at certain times of the day.
There are double yellow lines outside the cottage but you are able to drop off/pick up your luggage. Local car parks are numerous and very close but metered between 9am and 5pm Monday to Saturday. Parking is free from 5pm on Saturdays to 9am on Mondays in most local car parks. There is all day parking for £2 only 5 mins away in North Street (BN7 2PJ) - access is to the right of the Fire Station in North St.
Lewes train station is 7 mins walk from the cottage and there are regular trains to Brighton (17 mins), London (1 hour 11 mins) and Eastbourne (20 mins). A regular bus also runs to Brighton from bus stops in the High Street.
