Well presented and immaculate flat, very modern. We were informed of the ongoing development building works before we arrived, but this had no adverse affect on our stay. The location is ideal everything within walking distance beach, local shops, pubs, eateries. Beach Retreats as hosts communicated extremely well with any questions we had during our stay. The apartment was immaculate, suggestions we would make, would be for a foldable step-up stall to be there, as one of us is only 5'5" and therefore could not reach the shelves in the very tall kitchen cupboards or reach the microwave as it was well above head height. A coat stand or coat hooks would be a good idea as there is nowhere to hang your coats, especially if they are wet, we visited in November. A mirror on the wall by towel rail would be good, the bathroom cabinet was too high to see in, but this would be H&S regs to keep out of arms reach of young children. Suggestions do not deter from our lovely stay. Thank You.
The apartment is located within half a mile from the beach and even less to the town. Although Hayle town centre is nothing like Padstow or St Ives it has several ok bars, restaurants and take ways plus an Asda superstore within walking distance to stock up on. However, the main plus point is Hayle beach, which is a superb 3 mile long pristine golden sandy beach with a nature reserve on the cliffs at the north end. At low tide you’ll likely see the seals in the coves near Godrevy Point. The apartment is very modern and fully equipped with everything you’ll need no matter how long your stay. Whilst we were there (which we knew of beforehand) work was being carried out on some of the buildings nearby but only during weekdays and whilst we were out sightseeing. Note take some binoculars because you’ll be able to see the birdlife visible from the 4th floor flat in the river estuary. All comms. during the stay were quickly answered and everything was spotlessly clean.
Hayle sits at the mouth of an estuary, nestled between St Ives and Gwithian. The town is home to top notch ice cream and pasty shops for hungry stomachs, while the soft sands of the river's banks cry out for a paddle as it weaves its way towards the shoreline. St Ives Bay stretches from Hayle estuary to Godrevy lighthouse, miles of golden sand and expansive horizon. A little further along the beach's stretch you'll find Gwithian, flat open sand perfect for racing, kite flying and horse riding too- you'll often see ponies being taken for a canter in the shallows.
Before long, Gwithian morphs into Godrevy and the iconic lighthouse stands proud on the skyline, rearing up from its rocky outcrop bright white against the sky. Famed for inspiring Virginia Woolf's novel To the Lighthouse, it's a feature of the landscape loved by locals, surfers and visitors alike. From here, the rugged coastline sweeps away from the beach and over the National Trust owned headland to the inaccessible Mutton Cove, home to a Grey seal colony.
Back in Hayle, the Saltings nature reserve is a prime place for murmurations in the shoulder months and Carbis Bay and St Ives are a short hop away by train. The ultimate scenic route, it clings to the coastline promising photo-worthy vistas galore.
