Follow on IG and tag your stay @hyggechalet_co The Hygge Chalet is a sustainable A-frame located in the rural Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It is only 1 hour from downtown Denver, 40 minutes to Red Rocks, 1.5 hours to Boulder, and 1 hour to multiple ski resorts. There is an abundance of outdoor activities nearby that make perfect day trips all year round. The home is a newly renovated original 70's A-Frame inspired by Scandinavian design and the concept of hygge. There is a private trail from the property into the National Forest with huge aspen groves, a beautiful creek, and expansive overlooks from the saddle that is perfect for hiking or snowshoeing. My website will be provided upon booking, which details all the things to do, see, eat, and drink! Living Essentials: The home is 1400 square feet with an open floor plan. There is a full kitchen with high-quality cookware and all dining essentials. Basics such as, cooking oil, salt and pepper, a few spices, condiments, etc. are provided. A fair-trade and organic hot drink bar with Chemex coffee, tea, and hot chocolate is also yours to indulge in. The home is stocked with books, lots of board games, an iPad for movies, music, and information, a Bluetooth speaker loud enough to fill the home, and a gas fireplace for ambiance. All high-quality linens, towels, robes, and slippers are freshly-washed right before your stay. As is customary for almost all homes at high elevation, there is no A/C due to the cool temps year-round in the evenings and mornings. Bed & Bath: Both the loft and downstairs bedrooms have super comfortable queen beds with brand new mattresses. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and many toiletries and extras in case you forgot to bring something. Sauna: The barrel steam sauna truly sets this place apart from all the rest. It's easy to use and allows you to sauna bathe in the traditional Finnish way by pouring water onto heated rocks to create steam. Most nights in the Rockies are clear enough to see the Milky Way and star-gazing is exceptional here, especially when taking a cool-down break from the sauna. Outdoor Living: The 3.5 acres of land is mostly wooded and backs up to National Forest. The seasonal outdoor space includes 2 decks with stunning views, café lights, dining area, hammocks, Adirondack chairs, and a high-end gas grill with a smoker. Behind the home is a street art-inspired mural as a nod to Denver with an Aspen and Mandala scene created by a local Denver artist. Privacy and Road Noise: While the home feels private and secluded, it is still in a neighborhood (like most mountain homes in Colorado in order to reduce environmental impact). There is also proximity to the main road. Depending on the weather and traffic (especially busy holiday weekends) the sounds from the road will vary. If you're expecting absolute silence and total seclusion, this is not the place for you. The closest neighbors are Nicki and Damon at the bottom of the hill. They are also your co-hosts and work very hard to make sure everything is clean and working perfectly. Feel free to wave or say hi if you see them! They're wonderful to have nearby should any urgent need arise.
Will be back in the fall or winter, for sure. If you are looking to escape, slow down, and find some mindfulness this is it.
Sara is the most kind and communicative host I’ve ever worked with! This had the potential to be a rough trip because inclement weather took the power out, but Sara was so proactive, flexible, and communicative that we ended up with a game plan that still made the trip a 5/5. The home fully leans into the hygge and “off-the-grid” lifestyle... Pour-over coffee (and lots of tea options!), slippers, blankets (lots of them), and a cozy fireplace with plenty of spots to read and relax.
Our stay at the Chalet was truly magical! Amazing views, super clean, comfy beds and Sara is the BEST host. She checked up on us to ask if we needed anything, she is super friendly and responsive and went out of her way to mail us something we accidentally left behind. I recommend the beautiful Chalet- it is truly the perfect place to relax in and enjoy nature.
This place is the dream airbnb! Perfect location in that it offers serenity, private trails, plus easy access to towns nearby. It’s well laid out, and has great special touches (hot chocolate!). Super easy and quick to get from Denver airport. Only regret is wish we could have stayed longer. The sauna is the highlight! :-)
The Hygge Chalet is located in the rural Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The A-frame is nestled in 3.5 wooded acres at 9,000 feet in elevation. Our property is located at the top of the hill and is adjacent to thousands of acres of national forest. A private hiking trail starts on our property following a peaceful mountain stream where you can hike for hours into the national forest. I-285 is at the bottom of the hill. During high traffic times, especially weekends and holidays, some traffic noise from I-285 can be heard when outside of the property.
A vehicle is required to get to the property year-round. During snowy months (Nov-Apr) AWD or 4WD is required during to get up dirt mountain driveway.
