Serenne and Hao's cabin is beautiful and located in such a peaceful place! Our family of three had an amazing time enjoying the nature around the cabin and other beautiful spots nearby recommended by the hosts. The outdoor hot tub is a fantastic feature, as well as the outdoor fireplace and the indoor stove. The cabin has lots of beautiful and luminous living space which made it easy to cook as a family, to do yoga, to play board games, to have a movie night and to read by the stove or on the comfy couches. The beds were all super comfortable too! It's a gem of a place and Serenne and Hao are wonderful hosts :) We'll be back as soon as we can!
This was an absolutely beautiful cabin and such a nice getaway spot, so close to trails and also perfect to just relax by the fire or in the hot tub. Highly recommend!
Stunning A-frame home near an old ski hill. Amazing construction out of single solid timbers, with a nice light minimal feel inside that made it feel large. Nice attention to detail, including labels on all the cabinets, and the hosts were both proactive and responsive. Perfect place for a relaxing getaway any time of year.
My family (two adults, two kids and a dog), stayed here for 4 nights. We felt right at home, and had everything we needed. Serenne had some extra little touches that really helped for an easy week, such as a spare toothbrush, which meant I didn't need to drive back into town (so thankful), and extra charging cords for any you may have forgotten. Our dog Reggie loved his stay, he was very comfortable with a great dog bed, dog bowls and a couple little treats. We absolutely loved our stay. We will be back again for sure!
This small former ski village at Forbidden Plateau of approximately 30 cabins was first developed in the 1960s.
Although in former years the area was used primary as a weekend getaway spot, things have since changed and many people are living here full time now to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life and to be closer to nature.
At an elevation of nearly 700 meters, the flora and fauna as well as the wildlife is much different than down below. Wild blueberries and huckleberries seem to grow everywhere. You will also see many different birds at our feeders including the Grey Jay which only live at higher elevations and will eat right from your hand!
Our cabin is located at the end of the Forbidden Plateau road. The last 8 kilometres of the road to the cabin is gravel. The condition of the maintained road is generally good but after times of heavy rains it can get a bit bumpy.
2 wheel drives can get up there but you may need to take it a bit slow and drive as conditions dictate.
In the winter months snow tires or chains are required from October 15 to March 1. It is not uncommon to get a foot or two of snow overnight.
During very snowy winters parking may only be available on the street as the driveway may not be able to be cleared daily.
We do maintain a path to the front door (50 feet) and offer a sled to bring supplies to the cabin.
The road is regularly plowed during the winter but delays can happen. If heavy snow is expected please park on the lowest section of driveway or on the road. We are not always available to help dig you out. A selection of shovels are provided.
