We loved our stay at Bryony Cottage - communication before our stay was very descriptive and full of all the information we needed and more, including a handbook for the cottage! The cottage was spotless, in the heart of Windermere and the cleaners & managers were lovely and made it a special stay for my birthday weekend. 100% recommend!
It was a wonderful stay, the house has been freshly renovated, and it's stocked with all the essentials, particularly in the kitchen. It's clear the landlord has put a lot of thought into it.
Nestled right next to the train and bus stations, Bryony Cottage places you smack-dab in the vibrant centre of Windermere village. The buzz of the neighbourhood is simply infectious. But don't worry, this property is tucked away on a quieter residential street, offering you peace when night falls.
With bars and restaurants just a brisk 1-minute walk away, you've got the best of Windermere's social scene at your fingertips - without any of the noise, since these hotspots are tucked neatly around the corner and down the street. Do expect a bit of daytime traffic since we're on a road, but it's usually just a gentle hum.
Short walk up the road and you'll discover Orrest Head, a true gem of the Lake District with a fab view. It's a short climb, perfect for a dreamy sunset or a daytime picnic - definitely a must-see! Especially if you have a furry friend with you.
Lake Windermere and the postcard-perfect village of Bowness are just down the hill. A leisurely 20-minute walk or a quick 5-minute bus or taxi ride will get you there in a jiffy.
And here's a hot tip: Nearby, you can hire bikes from Total Adventure Bike Hire. It's a fantastic way to explore our local area - grab a bike and get ready for an unforgettable Windermere adventure!

everything you need from excellent food and drinks to any extra supplies
you may need.

You're in luck, as there's a wealth of bus services running in and around Windermere. Just a stone's throw away from our property, you'll find bus stops that'll connect you to the best of the Lake District.
Bus Route 555, for instance, offers a scenic ride between Lancaster and Keswick, passing through Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere, and more. For trips towards Bowness, Kendal, or Newby Bridge, check out Bus Routes 6, 6X, and 599. And don't forget Route 599, it's an open-top service during the summer - perfect for soaking up those breathtaking views!
Trains:
If you're venturing further afield, Windermere train station is just a 2-minute walk away. With regular services to Oxenholme Lake District station, it conveniently links you with the West Coast mainline. This means you're directly connected to major UK cities like London, Glasgow, Manchester, and Birmingham - making your journeys a breeze!
