Gillean House is a magical and very special place! The location is stunning, right on the beach with amazing views across to the Cullin range on a clear day and beautiful sunsets over the bay at night. The night sky is incredible for stargazing on the beach! Gillean House is a very fine house that has been beautifully renovated and is very comfortable and well equipped. It was a little bit chilly when we first arrived (the kitchen especially), but it soon warmed up! Everything was very clean and well maintained. Charlotte and Robbie are excellent hosts and communication with them was always smooth. The house is in a remote location on the Sleat Peninsula with access along a narrow, single track road, so you definitely need a car to reach it and shouldn't be in a hurry to get anywhere! We loved the remoteness, peace and tranquility of Achnaloich and didn't venture far to explore! We would love to come back, our only fear is that too many people discover this magical place!
Well not really sure what I can say that could sum up our week here apart from absolutely amazing - the house and location was beautiful. Met lots of friendly locals who gave us recommendations on where to go but to be honest we didn’t venture that far from the beach that is on your doorstep. If you want to see the mountains and sea do some kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, fishing, biking (if you like hills!) and walking you really can’t beat this place. The only thing is I don’t want everyone to know about it! Thank you for such a wonderful stay, it has been fantastic and we will certainly be back.
We could not have asked for a better place to stay on the last week of our road trip- not only was Gillean house extremely clean, welcoming and well maintained- but also had a beautiful surrounding area with opportunities to walk. Would definitely come back if we re-visit Isle of Skye.
We stayed here for a few weeks in June and start of July 2023. Really well renovated house kitchen is lovely and the 3 bedrooms are spacious. The house was very clean on arrival and well serviced over our stay. The communication with Beth and Robert was great throughout he was very responsive and helpful. It is located in a great quiet location with beautiful views.
