This place was a great surprise! There was some confusion about the booking and Mary immediately called when she realized to sort it out. When the room I thought I booked was not available, she tried to secure accommodations for me elsewhere. We ended staying in the hostel but it was much better than I imagined. We had plenty of space to ourselves and felt very safe. The facilities were perfect as we prefer to cook for ourselves. And the location could not have been better at the base of Croagh Patrick! Mary also provided directions to the perfect little beach. Thank you Mary for the “true Irish hospitality!”

We had a fantastic stay and highly recommend especially when climbing Croagh Patrick. The views are stunning, it is extremely clean and really well run. The hospitality we received from Mary was first class and she even let us borrow sticks for the hike. She was genuinely interested in getting to know us as people and not just guests which was really appreciated.

The place is as described, it is cleaned and modern. Mary is very welcoming and very kind ! I slept well and it is the perfect place to go hiking croagh Patrick (I recomand to start quite early, before 10 am because after it was very busy !!) I recomand and I will come back if I am coming back it this county !

Croagh Hostel is in an incredible location for climbing Croagh Patrick. It is a 3 min walk from the visitor center and start of the hike. I found the hostel to be well run and very clean. They had the best continental breakfast I’ve had on my trip. It is about a ten min taxi or bus ride from the Westport train station. Buses are infrequent but the taxis only charge about 10 euro for the trip.
