Les Gobelins is a stone throw away from Quartier Latin and all the touristic attractions. But tbh, the charm of this neighborhood is how family friendly and residential it is. You will get an authentic & “tranquil” Parisian experience staying here.
Les Gobelins is the home of Parisian teddy bears. If you do see giant teddy bears around coffee shops, bookstores,… it all started at a book shop in our neighborhood.
This neighborhood also houses the royal Manufacture des Gobelins, one of the oldest tapestry manufacturers. If you are lucky enough to own a French verdure tapestry, check the back if it’s made here!
Take a walk during your stay to Rue Mouffetard, it’s less than 10 minutes away and you will find the cutest cobblestone street filled with patisserie, fromageries, fresh food and artisanal shops.
Walk a bit further to Place de la Contreacarpe, that’s where all the young locals hang out and get a drink. Just love the vibe there! Other spots to get a drink in the neighborhood: the bars around Jussieu or Butte-aux-Cailles.
Les Gobelins weekend market is really really cool if you’re lucky to stumble upon one. Otherwise there’s a market somewhere in Paris at all time. Send me a text if you want to know more about this ☺️
