Victoria's House is situated in the idyllic Norwalk countryside at Rose Farm, a boutique flower farm. The home has been thoughtfully designed to exude the warmth + charm that Victoria, my late mother-in-law, herself radiated. You'll find a basket to collect eggs from the coop each day, vases to fill with flowers you harvest from the gardens (seasonally), and fresh ground coffee ready to be brewed each morning. Come take a sabbatical and enjoy the slow pace + beauty of the country. Inside Victoria's House, you'll find beautiful accommodations for eight guests, with the eighth guest on a rollaway. While you're with us, plan to enjoy the Rose Farm experience of a workshoppe, a garden party, a farm to table dinner, a stroll through the gardens or afternoon sweet tea in an Adirondack chair. The Shoppe at Rose Farm is filled with carefully curated goods, from tea towels, specialty coffees + teas, candles, aprons + home accents. With this special guest house, comes the opportunity to find magic. There is magic in watching a sunrise and sunset over the farm. There is magic in being barefoot in the grass, filling a jar with lightning bugs in the humid summer air. There is magic in watching the stars twinkle overhead late at night. There is magic in the quiet peacefulness as you kick your legs up and read a book. There is magic in laughter. There is magic in a summer playlist as you hum along to the tune. There is magic in brightly blooming flowers dancing in the fields. There is magic in enjoying a picnic on a blanket under a shade tree. There is magic in a cold glass of sweet tea and lemonade. There is magic in sitting around the campfire and roasting marshmallows until they are golden brown. There is magic in the first sip of morning coffee. There is magic in yoga on the lawn. There is magic in gathering fresh eggs from the coop. There is magic everywhere you look, and we hope you'll be our guest. Southern hospitality runs through every part of me, and how blessed I am to share this same zest for life + celebrations with Victoria. The dream of Rose Farm was built with the desire to have a gathering place where you can take a sabbatical and stop and smell the roses on life's journey. A place where you can learn something new in a workshoppe, or where you can unwind surrounded by nature's beauty. We raise honeybees, harvest hay fields, and create habitats for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. Multiple breeds of free-range hens happily wander the farm and produce a striking array of colored eggs. Fresh herbs are grown from seed and find their way into floral arrangements + family recipes. Seasonally, breathtaking fields of flowers delight the senses and dot the property with a spectrum of colors. White hydrangeas bloom displaying their lavish shape, as do several varieties of David Austin English roses, ranunculus, dahlias, tulips, cosmos and asters. Watch the ornamental grasses and Bells of Ireland dance in the wind. Raspberries, aronia berries, apple and pear trees provide flavorful fruit, along with many other varieties thriving on the farm. EXPERIENCES*: -reserve a seat in a culinary, art or floral workshoppe -enjoy a farm to table dinner featuring locally-sourced cuisine -celebrate with a private garden party or garden gathering -select curated farm gifts + goods in The Shoppe -harvest florals from the gardens -book a photographer for dreamy garden photos -host a private or semi-private event -book a private workshoppe *Additional fees may apply. Six of my girl friends and I spent two nights at Karri's for a little celebratory slumber party. The space is beautifully decorated and complemented by all the little details like the scent that welcomes you at the door and the music wafting from the kitchen. We LOVED meeting all the friendly cats, dogs, and chickens and we were also able to take in a fun wine and food pairing class at The Shoppe. I highly recommend you check out this lovely retreat and enjoy a peaceful relaxing few days!
Cute and comfortable house. The host, Karri, is very warm and friendly. My kids enjoyed seeing the chickens and having lots of space to run around outside. I'm sure it would be extra lovely to stay during flower season.
We decided to have a “staycation” and rent this space as a mini-exit right outside the city. This was so charming in every way and beyond what we imagined! From the moment we opened the door to the home it felt like we were transported into the cutest southern cottage. The decor, soft jazz music in the background, light and gorgeous scent, and impeccable decor and cleanliness, made our welcome immediately exciting. However, the best was yet to come as we started to explore the property with our boys. Both Karri & Patrick went above and beyond to help us have a great experience. The boys got to learn a lot about the chickens; we fished at the peaceful and quiet pond while being kept company by the sweet farm pets; hiked the whole property close to sunset; had the fire pit going for evening snacks and board games; and woke up to fresh eggs from the coop. It truly felt idyllic! Highly recommend…we were feeling the magic of it days after coming home. Boys miss Oscar & Luna 😉.
Victoria's House at Rose Farm was just perfect for our girls' weekend getaway. We loved being out in the country and watching beautiful sunsets, snuggling in for games and laughter in the evenings, and preparing meals in the light and bright fully stocked kitchen. The bedrooms were all adorable, each with their own character and charm. We loved that Victoria's House was decorated for the holidays and we were greeted by holiday music and aromas from the moment we first walked in. Karri was gracious and kind. We enjoyed wandering the property, visiting the shoppe (what an incredible selection of gift items), seeing the chickens, and getting photos in and around the festive Christmas greenhouse. It was a quick and easy drive to shopping destinations in Des Moines. This is a sweet home to unplug, relax, and enjoy rolling hills and fresh country air. Hospitable, welcoming, and cozy. We loved our stay! Christy, Ella, Karen and Hannah
