A very beautiful house and surrounding area, well worth the trip

Wow this place is something exceptionally special. We not only reconnected with nature but with ourselves! Set in quite frankly eye wateringly beautiful surroundings and totally private. Wake up well rested in comfortable warm beds to coffee on the patio surrounded by beautiful hills with an abundance of walks to work up an appetite for a cooked meal in the incredibly well stocked kitchen. Long evenings around the table by the fire playing some of the many games there or even taking in a ping pong tournament in the barn with a couple of drinks. This is GB at its best! The lovely hosts provide all the basics and even have the fires ready to light upon arrival. Spotlessly clean house which is amazing considering its age too. We will be back if they will have us. It’s not easy to find somewhere like this nowadays, we feel exceptionally lucky to have done so. As mentioned in the details no it’s not fluffy dressing gowns and spa - for us it was something far superior :0)

Lovely location, access was interesting on the tiny roads. Land Rovers made it infinitely easier, it does mean there’s no traffic, so lovely and quiet. Amenities were great with 3 bathrooms and lots of bedrooms. Lots to do around with walking, paddle boarding, cliff jumping, golfing, mountain hiking - so we were kept plenty occupied. Lots of nice pubs, the best of the local bunch was the Blacksmith’s Arms just down the road, but the big kitchen in the house made eating in easy too. Only thing I’d rethink about was comfy, sofa seating, not quite enough for all of us. We had a lovely time and made full use of both eating in and going out, as well as days off hiking or just lounging about by the fire. WiFi was well up to it though as well, not sure if they upgraded since their description, but with a house full of teenagers and 20somethings as well, none of them complained about streaming or accessing it! Much recommended.

We had a wonderful, magical, long weekend at Stephenson Ground. The location is exceptional with beautiful views and, a real bonus, you can walk from the door. There were 8 of us and we all really appreciated the long dining table, the large and well equipped kitchen, cosy sitting room, comfortable beds (with electric blankets) and modern bathrooms. It isa very special place and we'd love to come back and see it in the other seasons.
