Booked last minute, Childs game turned family vacation with grandkids not expecting to come. Very short weekend and I will tell you absolutely DID NOT disappoint anyone! Kids loved it! I am almost scared to tell you the truth about this place as we would definitely come back and refer others. I was given specific instructions how to get there, we were rolling in hot well after midnight. Teenage girl and 3 little people with me...4 1/2 hr drive....I'll let you all envision that one yourselves.....they went above a beyond for even prepping for us if I could not find...I say this because.. did not listen to my teenage age beautiful human person....and drove us 20 minutes past the place to come back the 20....we did find it. Not what was expecting in location...dated but just like traveling aboard, I promise WILL not disappoint you. I am picky...YOU WILL NOT CARE. It's a cabin! A rental! If you are unsatisfied, you don't belong in SD nor traveling exploring cultures! THE VIEW!!

We loved the cabin we stayed in. We especially enjoyed the view of mt Rushmore. Took some fun pictures of it lit up and night, and during the sunrise. Our group enjoyed the hot tub and just sitting outside on the upper deck. We arrived during a torrential rainstorm and the cabin heated up really quickly. Nice electric fireplace in the lower level was pretty cozy. Nice to have two big areas with couches and tvs if you want to do different things. We will definitely stay again! There is just so much to do in the Black Hills!

The space itself is comfortable and spacious. The shower head in the upstairs bathroom is very low, we’re 5.5 foot individuals and we had to lean down to get under the shower head. The downstairs bathroom had black mold growing on the ceiling above the shower area. The shower head also didn’t seem to work properly.

My only real complaint here is that the place is slightly run down. Like a budget hotel room. And we didn't have TV the whole time we were there and the weather didn't cooperate to do much else. Owner showed no interest in providing a solution, just said it happens all the time. Even when the weather improved, nothing. My suspicion is that is was shut off because it was an off season. Absolutely nothing in the way of dining was open when we were there. Not the owners fault however, we knew it was an off season, just didn't expect EVERYTHING to be closed. Extremely cool little town and the view of Rushmore from the living room is pretty cool at night or if you have binoculars. The weather was really bad the first two days and even right at the base of Rushmore we couldn't see anything at all. Luckily the third day it cleared off and it was beautiful. All in all, a cool place to stay to experience one of our national monuments
