‘Mendip Outdoor Pursuits’ offer an enormous range of outdoor activities, including dry ski slope, dry tobogganing slope for young children, climbing, caving, archery, kayaking and much besides. It is based in the same village as ‘Wild Goose Glamping’. Other neighbours, ‘Thatcher’s Cider’, offer public tours, a well stocked cider shop and our closest pub, being within a few minutes walk. Here, at ‘The Railway’ you will find great food, stylish and comfortable bars and restaurant, and an opportunity to sample the cider grown in the orchards you overlook from your lodge! ‘The Crown’ is a little further away, but still an easy walk. Offering traditional ales, open fires in the winter and big beer garden, this flag stoned, traditional ‘spit and sawdust’ pub offers a small but very good lunch menu. It has been Good Pub Recommended over many years, and is a little bit of a local legend.
Golf courses, horse riding, swimming pools and gyms, Birds of Prey centre, fishing in nearby lakes, quad biking, clay shooting, laser/ paintball/ combat gaming, tennis courts, escape rooms, water sports including sailing, cheddar cheese making demonstrations, Award winning Yeo Valley organic garden and cafe are but the tip of the iceberg in terms of the fun and interesting things to do. Wookey Hole and Puxton Park are long established, and very popular large family attractions. ‘Noah’s Ark’ offers a great variety of animals to wonder at and National Trust houses Tyntesfield and Clevedon Court are open for much of the year.
Many visitors find walking the numerous footpaths and visiting beautiful nature reserves, exploring the AONB Mendip Hills and coastal paths, cycling local cycle tracks and enjoying the natural beauty of the area thoroughly invigorating and enjoyable. But mountain biking on established trails in Rowberrow Woods, or Kings Wood/Crook Peak cycle climbing, offer adrenaline fuelled adventures if preferred.
Come rain or shine, there is a wide range of activities to chose from. You can mix and match to make your glamping experience exactly what you want it to be!

Wild Goose Glamping is surrounded by places to visit. Bristol is both an historic city and a hub of vibrant culture. The docks are particularly worth a visit, maybe taking a tour of SS Great Britain. The spa City of Bath, with stunning Regency architecture and Roman Baths offers something for everyone. You may wish to experience the mystery and magic of Glastonbury Tor and town. Spectacular Cheddar Gorge, with it’s caves, is a walk or cycle along the strawberry line, or a very short drive or bus journey. The smallest city in England, Wells, is a Somerset gem. There you may walk along the oldest street in England, and see if you can recognise scenery from the many films shot in this very quaint place. Even closer is Weston super Mare for a traditional seaside experience. A pier, summer donkey rides on the beach, wide expanses of sand, putting greens, ice cream stands and fish and chip shops.
