Greystead is located right in the heart of beautiful Bamburgh, and below its eponymous Norman castle. You’ll have views of both Bamburgh Castle and the sea from bedrooms, and be just a five-minute walk from white-sand Bamburgh Beach. GROUND FLOOR Front entrance hall contains a boot rack and coat hooks, side table with lamps and shelves with a plethora of local information. Open plan kitchen and sitting room comprising: Kitchen with Rangemaster double oven and grill, 6 ring electric hob, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine, integrated dishwasher, American-style fridge freezer, large island with built-in wine cooler and breakfast bar with two bar stools. A pantry cupboard contains a microwave, kettle, slow cooker, electric whisk and an additional under-counter fridge. Large dining table seating 10 guests with six chairs and bench seat. Sitting room with corner sofa seating eight, two-seater sofa, armchair, coffee table, wood-burning stove, Smart TV, DVD player and window overlooking the front garden and cricket pitches below Bamburgh Castle. There is an additional seating area with two wicker chairs, table and lamp. Bedroom one with king size bed, bedside tables and lamps, chest of drawers with lamp and mirror, chair and hanging hooks. En-suite shower room with walk-in shower (one step) with rainfall shower head and additional attachment, WC, basin, mirror with a light above, heated towel rail and shelf space. Games room with two two-seater sofas, armchair, coffee table, large smart TV, DVD player, PS3, football table, board games and children’s toys. Patio doors leading to the rear garden. Hallway with additional shoe storage and door leading out to front of house. Utility room/shower room with walk-in shower (one step) with large shower head and additional attachment, WC, basin, and heated towel rail. The washing machine, tumble dryer and drying rack are also located in here. FIRST FLOOR 14 steps from entrane hallway leads to landing with four-seater sofa, coffee table and lamp. Bedroom two with four single beds, two bedside tables, lamps and wall lights, large chest of drawers, mirror, hanging hooks and views over the green with Lindisfarne Castle in the distance, sea views, and Bamburgh Castle to the right. Bedroom four with super king bed, bedside tables and lamps, two-seater sofa, chair, TV with Freeview, DVD player, hanging hooks, shelf storage and Juliet balcony overlooking the back garden. OUTSIDE There is a front garden with sloped lawn and gates at each side of the house leading to the rear garden. There are ten steps leading up to the front door. The rear garden has a lawn area, two wooden benches, dining table seating ten. A charcoal barbecue is available for guest use (charcoal not provided). Ramp access leading to the rear door. Please note that while the garden is enclosed, it is not dog proof and it may be possible for dogs to escape through the fence. Guests have access to the garage which can be used for storage of outdoor kit and as a sleeping space for dogs if required. PARKING There is parking for up to four cars to the rear of the property. BABIES & CHILDREN A travel cot and highchair can be provided on request. DOGS Two dogs are welcome and must be kept downstairs, out of the bedrooms and off the furniture. A portable gate is available on request to keep dogs out of the sitting room. GUEST AMENITIES Bed linen, synthetic bedding and towels are provided. Guest toiletries are provided. A hairdryer is provided in each bedroom. Guests are able to make use of the membership for The Ocean Club Health Club and Spa in Seahouses - an entrance fee applies. Please note the pool and spa are closed from 4th January – 17th February 2023 for refurbishment. WI-FI & MOBILE COVERAGE Wi-Fi is provided. Mobile coverage can be average depending on the provider. HEATING There is oil central heating throughout the property in addition to the wood burning stove in the sitting room. GUEST PRIVACY The property sits on Front Street in Bamburgh overlooking the cricket pitches at the bottom of Bamburgh Castle with properties sitting on either side.
With friendly local shops, quaint tea-rooms, cosy pubs and restaurants on the doorstep as well as miles upon miles of stunning white sands within walking distance it is part of the reason visitors return to this area year-after-year, and why it remains one of the most popular beach destinations in England.
For dining-out, you can enjoy fantastic fresh seafood at The Potted Lobster located in the heart of the village; the Castle Hotel for a hearty pub meal and pretty beer garden; or the Victoria Hotel if you like great pub food and some chat next to the fire. Alternatively try The Wyndenwell for an ice-cream, cake and coffee stop, or the Copper Kettle, a characterful little tea-room serving a selection of freshly baked scones and light-bites. For something a bit more informal en-route to the beach, The Hut sits on the edge of the sand dunes for a delicious bacon butty or a kipper bun.
For provisions, The Pantry is a super deli selling meats, cheeses, preserves, freshly baked bread and smoked fish as well as lots of naughty puddings which all come from renowned local suppliers across the area. For picnics or lunches on-the-go, they will prepare sandwiches on request along with freshly ground coffee, or can arrange for food hampers full of gourmet goodies to be made up for your arrival at your holiday home. J Carter has been the village butchers for 125 years serving only the finest locally produced meat, homemade pies and award winning bacon which is cured and smoked on the premises. The nearest Co-op supermarket can be found in nearby Seahouses.
