For those that need a peaceful break to this unique cabin perched over the pristine Middle River. All the basics for your retreat into nature including a propane cook stove, solar lighting, composting toilet, comfy double bed, and the soothing sounds of the river. The space is designed to visually access the sights and sounds of the river, with a screened in balcony. The cabin includes a double bed that folds into a sofa, cooking (BBQ) and food preparation spaces - all meant to utilize every inch of the interior. Cozy, rustic spot with a beautiful view of the river and surrounding forest! I really enjoyed watching the wildlife in the morning with my breakfast (saw a beaver, a bald eagle and hear several songbirds!) The bed was quite comfortable. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to unplug and unwind!

Michelle and Brian’s places was absolutely perfect for us. We had originally booked the small cabin by the river however on the night we we’re supposed to stay a massive rain storm hit. Michelle a Brian were amazing with this and reserved the top level of their bnb for us so we wouldn’t be caught either in the rain or without anywhere to stay. The top level of their bnb was lovely, perfectly equipped with everything we needed and most of all dry during the rain storm. The bnb is nicely located only 25 minutes outside of Baddeck so not to far from restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores. We had a very restful night after a few nights of camping, and in the morning enjoyed some of the best scones I’ve ever had with tea and coffee before setting off on the long drive home. Michelle and Brian’s places was exactly what we needed for our last night and we would definitely stay again and recommend it to friends and family!
Very private and rustic cabin, as described. The river was very peaceful.

We are a family of three residing in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Michelle is a Massage Therapist with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. She has lived in New Zealand, England, Iceland, British Columbia, Quebec and Nova Scotia. Brian is a cycle/hiking guide, Environmental Scientist, Author and Artist with a career background in Sustainable architecture and building as well as many years of study under his belt. Brian has traveled extensively around the world, covering many thousand of kms by bicycle and he has lived abroad in Switzerland and Spain, as well as British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Quinn is 2 years old and she loves playing outside, watching peppa pig and eating berries! She has lived in Victoria and Saltspring Island, BC as well as Cape Breton Island. We love chatting about the world, art, literature, ideas and teddy bears. We are growing a huge veggie garden to feed ourselves and guests and we are really excited to become a lot more self sufficient and have a much smaller environmental footprint. Our dream for our farm is to care for a place that will help others reconnect to themselves, and the earth.
