We welcome you to our unique home, which we designed and built using sandstone and lined in timber. We have raised our family here, but they have now flown the nest and are creating their own. We have over the years striven to create a warm and inviting interior. The garden is a great source of joy to us in all seasons, and we hope our guests will enjoy this too. The house is set in 2.5 acres of garden, which is partly native bush. There is a small creek running through the property, crossed by two wooden bridges. We invite you to explore the quiet corners and paths, finding hidden surprises and enjoying the varied birdlife. You will have a spacious bedroom, with 1 queen bed, comfortable seating and views of the garden. The bathroom and separate toilet will be for your exclusive use, both are a few steps down a passage from the bedroom. In warmer months, the pool is available to share with us, as is the poolhouse with gas barbeque and seating area.
Upon our arrival we spent a peaceful afternoon sharing stories with hosts Margaret and Rory and enjoyed a loverly afternoon tea. The beautiful gardens and residence allow anyone to feel very comfortable. Margaret provided us with treats and tea and coffee making facilities. A small sitting area with TV was perfect for us during our stay. Margaret was up early and prepared a cooked breakfast for us. We had placed our order the previous day, but Margarets hospitality had prepared extra options. I would highly recommend this property to others looking for a clean, friendly and inviting bed and breakfast in the Dandenong Ranges. Margaret and Rory’s pride in their individually designed and self-built property is shared as they openly made us feel very welcome. Thank you, Ian and Meredith
My son and I had the pleasure of staying with Margaret and Rory and WOW it's just amazing in every way. Margaret and Rory are very hospitable and are happy to leave you alone or happy to have a chat if you want to sit and have a Cupa with them. The two rooms we were assigned, had a dedicated bathroom and toilet and all were very private. If you are looking for a peaceful location where you want to get away and relax, then this accommodation is for you. The gardens are amazing and are very well loved by Rory and Margaret. There is also a pool if you want to go and have a dip. Location wise it is in the foothills of the Dandenong Mountains so it's only 10 minutes' drive up the road and you are in the Dandenong Mountains themselves with Puffing Billy not far away also. Margaret and Rory were extremely accommodating and made us feel like family. When i get the chance, i will definitely be paying them another visit. Thankyou again.
Margaret and Rory are wonderful and generous. They went beyond what we would expect of hosts. The rooms and bathroom were pristine, the house and gardens were divine.
Margaret and her husband were very welcoming and accommodating. House and property are beautiful and had a lovely breakfast provided.
I am so happy that I choose Margaret's place for a weekend getaway. Margaret is such a lovely host. She is so kind and supportive. We absolutely loved her place and its an amazing accommodation. With intricate wooden carvings and multiple levels and so many indoor plants and souvenirs, it was a great treat for us. The accommodation rooms were greatly arranged. We were welcomed with a cup of tea and great conversations. The hosts also offered us a delicious breakfast made with local and homemade ingredients. We also had a chance to tour around their garden and were stunned to see a replica of Monet's Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies through a creek running in their garden. They had a list of things to do around with maps and restaurants near by as well. I would definitely recommend the place and I am sure I will come back again.
Upwey village is about 2km away and has a range of eating and shopping options. Local attractions include Puffing Billy historic railway in Belgrave, Sherbrooke Forest and the delights of the Dandenong Ranges are all within easy reach. There are ample walking tracks for all abilities, including the Glenfern Valley Bushlands on our doorstep.
Upwey village has easy parking available. There is a railway station in Upwey, and the train trip into central Melbourne takes about 1 hour. Several busses also run in the area.

We are mostly homebodies, working in the garden and reading. I do enjoy cooking, but in bursts of enthusiasm. When I have some spare time, I love to work on my mosaic projects. We do love travelling, whether around Australia or around the world.
