Relax with the whole family at this calm, secluded space overlooking the meadows & hills. Located in the beautiful hamlet of Bari at an altitude of 2,000m, we've painstakingly renovated a traditional mountain house to create a warm, comfortable & stylish homestay using only natural & recycled materials. Wherever possible we've tried to maintain & preserve the original features of this traditional mountain house. The walls and flooring are covered with mitti (cow dung) which keeps it cool in summer and warm in winter. You'll find exposed beams upstairs in the large open plan bedroom which gives the feeling of a loft and creates cosy corners for reading and relaxing. Downstairs is an open plan kitchen and living area with bar seats and a low ceiling which opens out onto a huge veranda with sweeping views of the fields and valley.

If you are looking for a getaway from the city hustle then this is the place. Cook yourself or walk a bit to have local food and get a sun bath all day. Very beautiful and peaceful stay.
The charmed simple life awaits you at Sian's bnb (Ganesh Apartments). The quietude of the village combined with the warmest smiles of the villagers will leave you spellbound. The balcony is definitely the best place to hang out. Just lay on the mattresses and watch the whole day go by. Special shoutout to Sian for the beautiful gesture of leaving a loaf of fresh bread and homemade jam in the room for us. She reached out to us multiple times during our stay with helpful tips.
Sian’s place was tucked into womb of the nature surrounded by very helping pahadi people. It is a village type hut where you will stay. You have a kitchen access inside and a common kitchen too. They do provide room heaters to keep you warm. Natasha and Sian are very kind to cooperate

The property is located near the temple along a dirt track hidden behind the trees. As you walk along the path to the house the trees open out onto beautiful views of the Kangra Valley below. Immediately in front of the house are lush green terraces that change with the seasons and are bathed in pink as the sun sets over the hillside.
You will need a vehicle to access the property which can be parked near the temple or we can arrange taxis if required. Otherwise you can walk up the hill from Upper Bir which takes approx 20 minutes. It's a stunning walk through the forest with views over the valley.

I was born & raised in the UK but have spent most of my adult life in India. The mountains are definitely my natural habitat and Bir has been my home for over 20 years. We organise treks and cycling expeditions, yoga retreats, group charity events, day walks and many other outdoor activities. I love the Himalayas and know all the secret spots that will make your stay unforgettable!
