Great walks through a myriad of habitats can also be enjoyed at Holt Country Park. Additional Information: One well behaved dog welcome (small additional charge). Holt is a very popular North Norfolk town, bursting with Georgian charm. With art and antique galleries, independent fashion boutiques, gift shops and grocery stores offering the very best of local produce, it really is heavenly for shoppers. Heavenly too for foodies; there's a good selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants - one pub not to miss is The Kings Head, in nearby Letheringsett, boasting The National Pub & Bar Awards 2021, Norfolk County Winner and you simply must try Meadowsweet, Holt's Michelin starred restaurant, but be sure to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. If you are a walker, Holt has its own beautiful 100-acre Country Park and Kelling Heath, with its pretty woodland trails, is close by. Plus, of course, there are miles and miles of the wonderful North Norfolk coastal path to explore too!
Holt has its own railway station, where you can take the Poppy Line steam train to Weybourne and Sheringham, or you can connect up with the train to the cosmopolitan City of Norwich.
The beautiful North Norfolk coast is easily accessed by car, and the National Trust properties at Sheringham Park (famous for its stunning rhododendron display during Spring), Felbrigg Hall and Blicking Hall are only a short drive away.
Only ten miles away is the lovely, family orientated traditional seaside town of Cromer. Cromer has an award-winning pier, beautiful beaches with rock pools, cliffs and great sandy expanses, plus many fabulous independent places to eat out. Cromer is known locally as Norfolk's surfing hot spot - if this is something you fancy giving a go, lessons and equipment hire can be booked at Glide Surf School. There is a museum telling of the maritime history of the town and a fun family day out at Amazona Zoo is a must. Cromer Pier has a Pavillion Theatre, the only one of its kind in the country, which stages traditional variety shows and live music events. With so many carnivals, markets and festivals, there's always something entertaining going on in and around Cromer.
Cley-next-the-Sea, a little to the north, is a pretty village with a landmark windmill, art galleries, a fabulous deli and tea rooms. The Norfolk Wildlife Trust visitor centre and the marshes, just outside Cley, provide the perfect spot to enjoy panoramic views across the marshes or birdwatch to your heart's content.
