This 1930’s storybook cottage is tucked away in the Longfellow Historic District, one of Iowa City’s most peaceful, beautiful neighborhoods. Close to downtown and the University, walkable to Deluxe Bakery, Longfellow Nature Trail, and multiple parks, this charming home has one queen bedroom plus an upstairs loft/workspace with an additional queen-sized bed. Updated kitchen and bathroom, electric fireplace, and eclectic art and books make this a unique getaway in the heart of Iowa City.

We enjoyed staying at Erin's place so very much! It was cozy and just the right size for us. The location was peaceful and quiet. Erin was a great host and very responsive to a few questions I had for her during our stay. Highly recommend if you are in the area!
It was a very quiet neighborhood. Great for walking my dog. The cottage style house was very cozy warm and comfortable. Enjoyed the stay.
Erin’s place was fabulous! It is the perfect respite and close to the hospital and university. Erin was very kind and flexible and responsive. I’m so glad that we found her and will definitely book with her the next time we are in town if her place is available.

We absolutely loved this place! The neighborhood was so quiet and cute and the house is very special. The kitchen was well stocked for making meals. We loved the furniture and the artwork. We did some research on the likely builder of the house, Moffitt. It was one of the cleanest airbnbs I've ever stayed in. We did a lot of walking around the neighborhood and got to see Grant Wood's house and go to the local meat market for groceries. I highly recommend this place to others.

The Longfellow Historic District is one of the most unique and special neighborhoods in Iowa City and is recognized by the National Register of Historic Places. It is truly an astoundingly beautiful neighborhood full of historic homes and lush native plants, flowers, and trees.
Most of the homes in the area were built before 1940 and have a style and personality all their own. It is well worth your time to walk around and admire the history that has been well-loved and preserved.
My cottage is one of the famed "Moffitt Cottages" built by Howard Moffitt, an eccentric builder who constructed around 100 homes in Iowa City and Coralville between 1924 and 1943. No two Moffitt homes are the same. Many of his original quirky details have been preserved in the house–the tapered chimney, the beautiful wood floors, the small upstairs–all of which makes it so charming.
During your stay, keep your eye out for all of the local wildlife we have. You could see deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, beavers, hummingbirds, hawks, bald eagles, and even Peregrin falcons!
