I was very cold on arrival. Thermostat on 15° would’ve expected it to be a little bit warmer when people first arrived to make it more welcoming. Kitchen, super clean and cleanliness is very high in the entire house. Kitchen amenities were a bit lacking. Could’ve done with a few more utensils to cook with , egg cups for boiled eggs, just general household things that were missing. At night was extremely cold. Could’ve done with just been allowed to have the heating on low throughout the night. We had two young children with us, so that might be a reason I thought the nights were cold. We had rodents of the large variety. In the floor between the bedroom and the kitchen. Did mention this to them at check out and they were going to look in to it. All the stuff we encountered, was super friendly and really helpful. Over all 👍 would stay again but bring slippers as the floor down stairs is cold!!

A beautiful secluded setting, with excellent amenities. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and quickly sorted out a couple of minor issues to our complete satisfaction. The lodge was extremely comfortable and the Dartington estate is close to Totnes with its excellent shopping, and perfectly situated for all the attractions of the Dart valley and, of course, Dartmoor.

The outside may look like a murder cabin in the woods but inside this property is great. It has everything you would want or need and is very tastefully designed. The main bedroom is massive, taking up the entire upper floor, with a large seating area and comfy bed. My wife was recovering from a foot operation and the almost 360 degree view was perfect for her to view and photograph the wildlife all around. I, however, was not recovering and enjoyed an afternoon at the Devon gin and rum school, which is just a short walk. The kitchen was well equipped, although weirdly no microwave, but the host provided plenty of tea and some wine on arrival. This property was set on the Dartington estate and when staying you have easy access to the excellent pub and restaurant they have there. Great location, a short drive to everything but feels like the middle of nowhere, we would gladly stay here again.

Delightful.A beautiful house in a stunning setting,resplendent with trees and wildlife in the immediate vicinity. A lovely all in one open plan living room, kitchen and dining space which works really well.The bedrooms are stunningly beautiful.There are wonderful sofas in the living room area and large bedroom which extend the options with regard to sleeping arrangements.All the rooms have amazing large windows with views of the woods surrounding the house.The whole house is well equipped, simply and stylishly furnished,neutrally tasteful and designed for deep comfort; it’s deeply peaceful and very quiet and dark-the lighting is in accordance with the dark sky status of Dartington so it’s easy to stargaze from the windows of the house.We heard lots of birds and bats and saw the deer from the front door of the house all the time.This is the best place I have stayed in away from home-and I stay away from home regularly in places all over Britain
