Catoctin Creek is nearby, with a spot for fishing west along the Pike. There's a great ice cream place called Little Red Barn which can be walked. There are sidewalks the length of town and three picturesque churches. Lots of local businesses here and a farmer's market at the Ruritan Center Thursdays 4pm-7pm, often with food trucks and music. From Jefferson, it is only a short drive to many breweries, wineries and cideries (see the guidebook for more). Jefferson has three playgrounds within walking distance; the closest is right across the street at the elementary school. Also, be sure to check out Farmer's Daughter bakery for tasty treats while you're here!

The best way to get around Jefferson from Firefly Hill Farmhouse is to take the sidewalk which begins at the Valley Elementary School next door. If you want to drive, all of the local businesses have adequate parking. Anything beyond downtown Jefferson, you can either take the bus into Frederick or drive- parking is usually not difficult with four main parking garages and plenty of street parking. Everywhere else nearby the businesses all have ample parking.
