The closest trailhead and parking lot are located just a few minutes away in Kinderhook village’s Rothaermel Park, which also includes a children’s playground. • Martin Van Buren Nature Trails: Literally around the corner from the Kinderhome! Perfect for a relaxing morning walk. • Dutch Farming Heritage Trail: a 1.7-mile self-guided tour that takes you through the history of farming in the Kinderhook area. The trail begins at the Luykas Van Alen House (parking at Ichabod Crane schoolhouse) and ends at the Lindenwald Site. • Pick your own fruit! A local favorite is Samascott Orchards in Kinderhook, which offers a variety of apples, peaches, and other fruits.
