Tlalixtac de Cabrera · 整套民居 · 3室0床2.0卫 · 可住5人 · Altares a las Montañas
This traditional Oaxacan house was handcrafted by local artisans in exquisite adobe walls, a shading porch, furnishings and decor. It nestles in gardens of trees and blooming succulents. Guests enjoy multiple level terraces, hammocks, an outside dining area, a lap pool and spectacular mountain views. We are in a Zapotec town with nearby restaurants and easy transportation to Oaxaca city (25 minutes). We offer tours to villages and archaeological sites. The house is protected by high walls. Parking is free within. Gil, our on-site manager, is always ready to serve. Downstairs, there is open living space and two bedrooms, one bath. Upstairs there is a large space with a king size bed and a single bed plus bath. We offer fruit, local cheese and eggs, coffee, tea, spices. Guests can purchase fresh tortillas and breakfast close to the house. Guests share the palapa, an outdoor gathering area, the pool, its baths, laundry, and organic vegetable garden. There is a charge for house cleaning upon departure and further cleaning can be contracted any time. The enchanting tranquility can be broken by music. Once a week a local band of fine musicians practices next door and on the other side, perhaps twice a month the salón de fiestas may annoy with loud music. We offer protection but if guests are annoyed, we are happy to negotiate a discount.
Mary Kay is a wonderful host and ambassador for Oaxaca and the people. She is extremely knowledgeable and forthcoming with a quick sense of wit. Her assistant Margarito and her groundskeeper Hil are both very kind and helpful. If I had one regret it would be that I had not been more able to converse with them in Spanish.
Muy amable Mary y Gil siempre atentos de las necesidades. Es hermoso su jardín es un pedazo etnobotanico de Oaxaca. Gracias!
This is my second time staying with Mary Kay and first time with this current house. I'd start by saying that it's much more beautiful and spacious than the photos suggest, with loving and interesting design choices. The walled-in compound is a little oasis with constant bird-song, nice breezes, and beautiful trees and plants across the property. My family adored the lap pool and my toddler had a blast in the various shallow sections. I recommend renting a car as you'll have easy access to the nearby towns of Tule and Teotitlan and downtown Oaxaca is about 20 minutes the other direction. This time, we hired Mary Kay's assistant, Eli, to cook big family-style meals for us each night. She had a number of suggestions and we also made our own requests. The meals were delicious, authentic, affordable, and such a nice way to wind down an evening without having to cook for ourselves or leave to go to a restaurant. I recommend pursuing this option for at least some dinners.
Most gracious, attentive host. Many places to visit; hiking paths around; restaurants close by, local markets within walking distance. Very safe environment, friendly. Car not necessary. Local taxis are cheap. Local driver available to visit faraway places. All of which was cheaper and less stressful than renting a car. Recent buildings with interesting architecture, art decoration, protected compound, one of the three villas is the host's. Beautiful garden, carefully maintained. Long covered swimming pool with sea water, with opening ceiling. Washing machine and dryer. Mary Kay paid our taxi to the city center (half hour), aqua purificada, made sure everything was fine, helped us prepare visits; she has outstanding knowledge of the culture, having taught Mexican History, and being involved in the community. Local band practiced once a week. No problem. 4 dogs on site (usual in Mexico), friendly, not invasive. We had a wonderful experience and want to come back again next year.
We are located on the edges of a delightful Zapotec town known for its tortillas and musical bands. There are several places to eat in and around the village. We are conveniently located very near highway 190 but secluded in the village. We are a mile or so from Tule with its magnificent tree and a half hour from Teotitlan (textiles) Tlacolula (Sunday market) and Ixtepeji, mountain park for walking
Walking in village, easy access to Oaxaca via taxi, colectivos and sometimes buses!
