Retreat on 22 acres of forest and field atop the highest hills in the Finger Lakes. Our 1830 farmhouse includes modern decor and art while maintaining original charm. Pick veggies from the garden in the summer, enjoy autumn colors or soak up the warmth of the woodstove in the winter. Hilltop includes a firepit and a network of trails in the meadow and forest. Visit Canandaigua and Keuka lake and surrounding towns, wineries, eateries and downhill and cross country ski destinations with ease. Hilltop Farmhouse was built in 1830. We’re slowly learning about its history, but it’s safe to say it’s one of the area’s earlier homesteads with an undoubtedly long and complicated history as it is built on ancestral and treaty lands of the Haudenosaunee Seneca People. On the ground floor are all the living spaces including mudroom / entranceway, fully stocked kitchen, dining room, music room, and living room with a working woodstove. The downstairs also includes one of the home’s two full baths and deck with lounge chairs, outdoor dining space and a grill overlooking the meadow and forest without another home in site. The upstairs includes three bedrooms, two with their own private working space, and the second of the two full baths. In Spring, Summer and Fall, you’ll find a working vegetable and flower garden and we welcome you to harvest what you need and will use to complement your meals during your stay. The bounty of this land is not ours alone and we love to share what we grow with you. The house and property offer a unique, serene and natural experience in the hills of the Finger Lakes.
The house is BEAUTIFUL!!! The location, the art, the book collection, interiors....everything. Hands down the best house we have ever rented. Sylvia is a great host. Excellent communication, instructions and great recommendations. The house was stacked with all the amenities and had loads of games and books. We had a lot of fun.
We went away for a kids free weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. The house is secluded, while being close to nearby towns if you want to go out and explore. We did not get a chance to explore the trails, but would have loved to. Highly recommend for a relaxing weekend away.
We loved our time at Sylvia’s home! It’s a beautiful space inside and out. A kitchen with anything you could possibly need, a wood burning stove that keeps things toasty and cozy, comfy couches and beds, and lots of thoughtful touches like local coffee, a stellar book collection, yoga equipment, and a fantastic stereo system. It was close to Naples with several breweries and a grocery store. Also close to nature preserves for cross-country skiing and winter hikes. We all agreed that it was one of the best airbnbs we’ve ever experienced and made for a magical first visit to the Finger Lakes!
We loved our time at Sylvia and Eric's place. Their home is comfortable and lovely (and was very clean), filled with thoughtful amenities. The kitchen had everything one could need to make meals and was a great place to hang out as well. The place is very spacious with plenty of room to spread out if you desire. Sylvia was extremely responsive before we arrived and during our stay. We went during the winter. I am sure it is equally stunning when their garden is in full swing. We took several long walks on the road, which was not busy when we were there, so we were not overly worried about traffic. In the spring, summer, and fall, it would be great to explore the woods that are part of their property (or bring snow shoes and you can do it in the winter!). We felt very at home and can't wait for our next visit! Would highly recommend.
Our neighborhood is quiet and rural. You can only see one other house from our meadow and no other homes from our back deck. It’s serene and a great place to retreat from the buzz of the surrounding lakes and lake towns while still having great access to them when you want it.
The closest town to us is Naples, a short 10 min drive down the road. It includes a quaint main street, hiking trails open to the public all year long and an abundance of public events and gatherings – one of the reasons we love it so much!
Keuka Lake and surrounding towns like Hammondsport and Penn Yan are also well within reach. Hammondsport was voted the Coolest Small Town in America --- twice! Walking around the village, popping into shops and eating at the restaurants on the Square are all great fun.
You’ll need a car to get to and from the Farmhouse and around the Finger Lakes for activities.
Driving or flying in and renting a car are by far the easiest ways to reach us.
If you are flying in, the best airports to look at are Rochester, Elmira, or Ithaca. All are about 1-1.5 hours drive away. Syracuse and Buffalo are also decent options, but a few hours drive away.
Buses or trains run to nearby locations like Rochester and Geneva also work great if you have someone to pick you up or a way to get a car the rest of the way and a way to get around once you arrive.
If boating is part of your plan, we’ve several nearby boat launches on Canandaigua and Keuka Lakes and the driveway is plenty long to park a truck and a boat trailer. Take a peek at Keuka Lake State Park on Keuka Lake and Woodville Boat Launch on Canandaigua Lake.

I am a naturalist at heart and love to grow my own food. I am also a trained public health researcher and humanitarian worker. I travel often and split my time between Red Hook, Brooklyn and the Finger Lakes in upstate New York where I was born and raised. My husband, Eric, and I are excited to share our 1830 farmhouse in the heart of the Finger Lakes through Airbnb. We can't wait for you to experience its magic!
