Very clean and comfortable space in a hip neighborhood with good restaurants and local stores. Easy to get in and out of the apartment and the furnishings were new and accommodating. Parking was close by and secure.
I had a deeply unsettling experience at this Airbnb location that I feel compelled to share to caution future guests. Upon arrival home on Friday night in Pittsburgh at 9 PM, I was unable to enter the building due to a malfunctioning key code. Despite multiple attempts, I could not reach the host for immediate assistance and she said she was unable to answer the phone after I told her someone in the building, who appeared to be under the influence, aggressively confronted me. He was yelling, using profanity, and making racially insensitive remarks. It was a frightening 30 minutes before the host finally contacted him to let me in, during which his behavior escalated further. Once inside, I was still unable to access my apartment due to the ongoing key code issue. I felt increasingly unsafe as the resident continued his tirade, prompting me to call my son, a police officer, for advice. Following his recommendation, I prepared to leave as soon as I managed to enter my apartment and left.
great restaurants in front of the apartment, easy walk to so many fun bars and breweries, cool neighborhood to be in. the apartment was comfortable, spacious and interesting!
Bethany is a great host: she was always friendly, responsive and helpful. The check-in and parking information were detailed and included photos. A dedicated, free parking space is close by, and easy to find. As noted, the apartment is on the 2nd floor, up a flight of steps (as this is an older building, the stairs are a bit steeper than new buildings). The apartment is exactly as described/pictured, and it's really quiet despite the busy street (the floors are a little creaky and slope-y, which is part of the charm). Bed is super-comfortable. The apartment is close to lots of things to do and different neighborhoods, (try Prantl's burnt almond cake!). Thanks Bethany!
Bloomfield is a neighborhood located in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the eastern part of the city and is known for its vibrant atmosphere, diverse community, and rich history. Bloomfield is often referred to as Pittsburgh's "Little Italy" due to its strong Italian heritage and the presence of numerous Italian restaurants, shops, and bakeries.
The neighborhood is bordered by several other Pittsburgh neighborhoods, including Lawrenceville to the northeast, Friendship to the northwest, and Shadyside to the southwest. Its central location provides easy access to other parts of the city, making it a popular residential area for both families and young professionals.
Bloomfield is characterized by tree-lined streets, rows of well-maintained houses, and a mix of commercial and residential buildings. The heart of the neighborhood is Liberty Avenue, which serves as the main commercial corridor. Here, you'll find a variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, and small businesses.
One of the most notable landmarks in Bloomfield is the Bloomfield Bridge, which connects the neighborhood to the nearby Polish Hill neighborhood. The bridge offers scenic views of the city skyline and the Allegheny River. Another prominent feature of Bloomfield is West Penn Hospital, a major medical facility that serves the Pittsburgh area.
In addition to its Italian influence, Bloomfield is also home to a diverse range of cultures and ethnicities, including Irish, Polish, German, and African American communities. This diversity is reflected in the neighborhood's annual events and celebrations, such as the Bloomfield Saturday Market, Bloomfield Little Italy Days, and the Polish Hill Arts Festival.
Bloomfield's close-knit community fosters a strong sense of pride and engagement. Residents often come together to support local businesses, participate in community events, and maintain the neighborhood's unique character. The neighborhood's friendly atmosphere, combined with its convenient location and cultural offerings, make it a desirable place to live, work, and visit in Pittsburgh.
