Our tiny cabin is located on a 14 acres property in the middle of the woods. You will enjoy complete privacy and use of your own area on the land, including a pond. Located 2 min, from the Transcanada Trail, 20 min. walk to the Kinsol Trestle, a World Heritage Site with beautiful swimming holes right underneath the bridge. 20 min. to next Grocery store and 22-25 min to Duncan. Approx. 50 min- 1 hr to Victoria. Pottery lessons are available by request if you have always wanted to try it out. The cabin is brand-new and has a big deck as additional outdoor space with a patio corner including a table and an outdoor shower with forest view through a glass wall. We provide biodegradable organic soaps, shampoo, conditioner and cleaning products as well as fresh towels, wash cloths and a hair dryer. An on-demand propane tank will provide hot water for the shower and the kitchen which includes a new small propane cookstove. Apart from that the kitchen is stocked with all new appliances such as a fridge with freezer, a toaster oven that fits a 12” pizza, a toaster, an electric water kettle, an espresso maker and a french press for coffee. We provide organic tea and coffee, organic sugar, salt, pepper and oil. We also haveseasonal availability of farm fresh eggs from our free range chickens. There is everything you need to cook a meal and clean up after plus store your leftovers in the fridge. The eating table can be folded up to create more floor space. The sleeping loft is accessed by a ladder with extra safety bar to hold on to and support you climbing up and down from the loft. Physical ability to use ladder is a requirement. There is enough room to stand in the middle of the loft but not under the slanted ceiling areas. Our mini wood stove warms the place quickly and we have lots of firewood onsite to use. Drinking water comes in excellent quality straight from the tap from a 250 ft mountain well. The composting toilet has a great view of the pond and is supplied with toilet paper and peat moss. It’s a stone’s throw away from the cabin and there are flashlights available plus solar lights and torches along the way. Beside the pond you have the opportunity to relax in a family sized hammock under big trees and enjoy the sounds of nature. This is an ideal getaway for couples, good friends, or for solo reflection and artist retreat. We have a fully equipped pottery studio on the property and the kitchen is filled with our handmade dishes. Guest Access: Check in: 3pm Check out: 11am We are at the upper end of a paved road on Kapour Mountain with a gravel driveway to the cabin. Lots of parking space available. Space for pitching a tent is available next to pond on request. Extra cost for tent is $25. Please no smoking, toking, vaping on the property. We have children and a dog on the land but your privacy is one of our biggest concerns as we enjoy our own.
The property is impressive, a nice balance between curation and wild growth. The cabin is cute and well-built with a great deck. The pond is a nice feature with a lovely view and plenty of frogs and their night sounds. My wife loved the outdoor shower and the bedding. She's already sourcing the same pillows! I was appreciative of a well stocked and clean kitchen. We both thought Franziska's pottery was beautiful. I have only one complaint and that is the wood stove. We opened the windows to vent the space before starting a fire and it still generated more than enough smoke to set off the smoke alarm. We decided to cut our losses and make do with the space heaters but it's just not the same.
Great stay!! such a cozy cabin with cute touches throughout - franziskas pottery is all over the cabin and it's absolutely beautiful! the outdoor shower was amazing and the toilet outside was so nice to sit at. We did a pottery class which we highly recommend doing! Would definitely come back. Thanks so much for being such a great host
Franziska's place is amazing!!! If you are looking for a quite, peaceful, secluded hideout to connect with nature, look no further. Everything about this place is perfect! From the small pond with the many wildflowers, the view from the outhouse, the delightful space inside the cabin, to the majestic deck space for morning coffee and breakfast there is so much to like. Lastly, there is the experience of the other worldly outdoor shower! Franziska herself is absolutely a delightful host, and goes above and beyond to resolve and assist with any issues or questions we had. This forest hideout will be the first place I look if I ever return to Vancouver Island.
Our property is on a dead end road with access to trails and a river. Nestled on the mountainside in the trees. Road access is paved, our driveway is not. It is a quiet area with homesteads and small farms and families.
I have parking for several vehicles.
