Right across the street is Park Lunch, a local favorite known for it's fried clams. A hundred yards down the road is Nick's pizza which has the best pizza in town.
Cashman park is nearby which has tennis and basketball courts, rail trail/boardwalks and a playground for kids.
If you want to visit the beach both Salisbury and Plum Island are a short drive or Uber away.

Downtown is a quick 8 minute walk away (.4 miles) to all the shops and restaurants. You can use the sidewalk or if you prefer a different route with a river view you can walk through Cashman park and use the Newburyport Harborwalk. It starts right outside the apartment and goes all the way past Waterfront Park where summer concerts are played. Along the way the Harborwalk takes you by Michael's Harborside and the Black Cow restaurants. It also takes you by the launching area for the Plum Island Kayak rental company. Finally, it goes past the whale watching boats and finishes near the Custom House Maritime Museum.
If you want to walk, run or bike farther the Harborwalk also connects to the Clipper City Rail Trail which will take you to the train station. The commuter rail there will take you to North Station in Boston. Walking the rail trail to the train station takes 25 minutes from the apartment (1.3 miles).
