The house is spacious and filled with light - very comfortable for families or friends travelling together. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The house is situated on a farm – Protea House, where the hosts also live (in another house). The kitchen is fully equipped (fridge, cooker, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, electric kettle, dishwasher, ...) and there's also a washing machine. An extra bed can be available. A welcome basket is offered on arrival. It is located in Lagoa (on the island of S. Miguel) on a farm of about 2,5 acres, with an excellent environmental quality, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean and the mountain of “Lagoa do Fogo” (Fire Lake). The house is surrounded by gardens and wide green spaces, where several flowers and fruit trees grow. Just a 10 minute-drive away from Ponta Delgada. A very central location in terms of the island. Here you can relax and enjoy the tranquility of being in a rural environment surrounded by nature but at the same time you are very close to the main cities on the island, Lagoa (3km), Ribeira Grande (10km), Ponta Delgada (12km) and Vila Franca do Campo (19km). It’s a good starting point for trips around the island, allowing you to discover its natural beauties, whether you go west to Sete Cidades or east to Furnas and Nordeste, and then come back at the end of the day and relax in the front patio. We are also close to the natural swimming pools in Lagoa, as well as to several beaches (Pópulo, Caloura and Água d’Alto, on the south coast, 7 and 15 km; Santa Bárbara and Porto Formoso, on the north coast, 8 and 16 km), and the Batalha golf course (11 Km). The nearest supermarket is only 5 minutes away and there are plenty of restaurants in Lagoa. This farm was the first in the Azores to grow and export proteas, exotic flowers from South Africa, after which it is named – Protea House. There are only a few plants remaining since the proteas were replaced by passionfruit, which you can taste if you come in the summer.
