Our family of 8 adults and 5 children (aged 1 to 13) spent an enjoyable October half-term at The Haven, in its stunning waterside location with delightful gardens leading down to a sandy cove. There is a well-equipped kitchen, conservatory for convivial meals, 5 superbly comfortable super-kingsize beds, very good showers, constant hot water. The 2 large formal sitting rooms are rather bleak and in the evenings people tended to crowd into the cosy television room with its large screen. It was mild, but we would have liked to light the woodburner but couldn't find any logs. Table lamps would help soften the 2 large rooms, and staying in a house with such strong literary associations (though I don't think this is mentioned in any info) we keen readers would have brought our own reading lights if we'd known there weren't any!

This property has so much potential. The location and surrounding is gorgeous. The structure itself is also incredible, but is in dire need of updates. It feels like the space has been set up to meet the bare minimum requirements to host on Airbnb. If they spent a few thousand dollars of simple piste to the bathroom, windows, and bedrooms it be one of the best rentals in the area.

The Haven is a grand old house, with amazing views and a great location. It was clean, safe, well positioned (a few minutes walk from town) with good parking which is very rare in Fowey. The cleaners were great, and the house was fine, but not worth the fee by some considerable margin. The house has recently been purchased and requires extensive modernisation; it felt like the most simplistic items were sourced to make it able to be listed on Airbnb. Gardens were in a very poor state and rather ramshackle, basic items like wardrobes and bins missing from rooms, no tumble drier. With attention and the final investments needed it will be amazing. We would rent it again, but definitely not at these fees or anything like it until its been updated with the fixtures, fittings and items you would expect for a house of this underlying stature and potential and the £10k for 14 day fee.

Wonderful house in a superb location. It was a shame that we had to live out of our suitcases for the 12 day holiday, as there wasn't a chest of draws in any of the bedrooms, apart from a few coat hangers, which slightly took the edge off staying in a finest retreat, likewise the plastic curtains in 2 of the bedrooms which were noisy and impractical. The kitchens very small oven did not work but would be totally useless for a house of 12 guests. We resorted to turning on the Argar where only one oven worked anyway. The garden and terrace were lovely but in dire need of maintenance and although there were two fire pits, there was a complete lack of out door furniture, apart from 2 sunloungers, again, such a shame for a house that can hold up to 15 guests. I think more thought needs to go into the requirements of guests staying in such a beautiful house.
