爱丁堡 · 整套出租单元 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Colonies Garden Flat
Our garden flat is in the Shaftesbury Park 'colonies' at the end of a no through road, located a couple of miles southwest of the city centre. It's a real haven of peace and tranquillity, filled with natural light. The flat has been lovingly restored and has a very homely feel with antique and vintage furniture and Persian and Moroccan carpets. Indeed, we live here for most of the year, so we warmly welcome you to our home. The flat features a stylishly appointed bright living room with bay window and working shutters. The dining room, with large dining table, writing bureau, and snug seating, looks out onto the rear garden as does the charming galley kitchen, which offers all the necessities for a self-catering holiday. The double bedroom is very quiet and peaceful with working shutters and velvet curtains. There is abundant storage as well as a beautiful, double-glazed sash and case window. There is a small, well-fitted, internal bathroom. Completing the space are the wonderful gardens: the small front garden is a sun trap, while the back garden offers dappled shade under the cherry tree and plenty of room to lounge around! Please do get in touch if you intend to stay with a child so we can discuss exactly what you will require.
Staying here was a dream. I stayed for a full month while in town for the Fringe and while working remotely, and it was simply perfect. The space: Beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, every last detail feels intentional. It feels like a home, yet also doesn't feel cluttered. Everything I needed to cook in the sunny kitchen, to work at the dining table, to relax to music in the living room. Great shower. Great bed, very quiet and gets dark and peaceful - I slept so well here. It's a wonderful place to wake up in and to come home to every evening. The location: Very close to a well-stocked supermarket, a gorgeous canal stroll, nearby green spaces, and walkable to several great high streets with restaurants and shops - yet also extremely quiet and calm. It was an easy ~30-minute bus ride (including wait time) to/from Old Town and New Town for all the shows I was going to, or a ~10-min Uber ride, or a lovely walk. Simon was super friendly and on top of everything. Highly recommend!
The Shaftesbury Park colonies, now a conservation area, are a real slice of Edinburgh's architectural history. Part of the Edinburgh Building Cooperative's housing projects of the late 19th century, the flats are arranged in cul-de-sac terraces, with only an upper and a lower flat in each building, each with its own front door. The area is friendly, secure and leafy. Within a couple of minutes is Harrison Park with wonderful cherry trees and an enclosed play park for children. The Union canal itself is great for all types of activities - walking, cycling, feeding the ducks!
Various ammenities are at your door step: across the road on the high street is a local supermarket/delicatessen, which will meet all of your needs; 5 minutes and you're at a large Lidl; 8 minutes and you're at Gorgie Road, which is one of Edinburgh's most diverse neighbourhoods with excellent shops for your fruit, veg, and herbs.
There are six bus routes within a three-minute walk of the flat into different parts of the city and all main visitor attractions are served. Alternatively, the Union canal offers a car-free pedestrian route to the city centre. The flat is an excellent base to explore the city, especially during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
