Riff Cottage is a traditional farm cottage which is fully equipped, warm and comfortable. Located in the countryside with outstanding sea views, it is a great location for exploring Orkney. Riff cottage is family-friendly with plenty of room to explore, with picnic areas and private seafront walks /beach-combing on site. Free Wi-Fi is available. We have Shetland ponies, chickens and ducks on site and there is diverse range of wildlife, from birds of prey to otters and the occasional dolphin! The Riff cottage sleeps up to 5 in two double and one single bedrooms. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring Orkney and is only a 20-minute drive from the main archaeological sites of Skara Brae, Maes Howe, Standing Stones of Stenness, Ness of Brodgar. We will provide you with a welcome pack on arrival. You will have your own parking area and enclosed garden. Riff Cottage key features include: - Comfortable sitting room which is light and airy in summer and yet cosy and warm in the winter. For your entertainment, there is a widescreen Digital TV with DVD. - Kitchen with separate dining area, well equipped with modern appliances. Includes fridge/freezer, microwave, gas hob and electric oven, electric mixer, coffee maker, dishwasher and washing machine. - The family bathroom is a bright functional room with shower over bath and plenty of room for storing toiletries. - Enclosed large garden area, with separate barbeque and seating area. Separate drying area. - There is a large selection of DVDs, Orkney books and local information. Binoculars, maps and guides are also available.

loved our stay at Riff cottage. was immaculately presented and Greig is a excellent host. Can't thank him enough for our time there and the wee chats we had. Highly recommend to anyone wishing a stay on Orkney.
As a family of 5 we really enjoyed the stay at Riff Cottage. It was warm and cosy which was especially welcome when returning from an exciting trip on a cold and windy day. The cottage is very well equipped, truly a home from home. Greige was very helpful and friendly and made sure we were comfortable. An amazing stay in an amazing place.
We planned to stay for one night but ended up staying four nights as the ferry was cancelled due to bad weather. It was no problem booking extra nights. Riff cottage is a great location not far from anywhere on Orkney. Riff cottage was lovely warm and very comfortable.
We had a lovely stay, the location is great for driving anywhere on the island, we had difficulty finding the location in the dark when we arrived but Greig was amazing and came and got us and we followed him to the house, he made sure we were able to access the cottage and showed us around. I definitely recommend staying here.
Great hosts/cottage/views just take clothes toiletries and food and you've got a home for your holiday. Greig was a really nice bloke to meet and speak to. If we return to Orkney would definitely be disappointed if we didn't get to stay here again.

Countryside location with a few scattered properties. However, house is very central and located approximately 20 minute drive from Orkney's archaeological sites (Skara Brae, Broch of Gurness, Standing Stones of Stenness, Ring of Brodgar) and the same for the main towns of Kirkwall and Stromness.
The most convenient way to explore Orkney is via car and this is essential for this location. However once here you can take the opportunity to cycle or take the bus. There are also many tour companies in Orkney where you can visit the sites.
To visit the outer isles of Orkney, you can take a ferry for the day via Orkney ferries.
