Berrima · 袖珍小屋 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Kangaroo Cabin - Luxurious Simplicity in Berrima
A peaceful retreat that’s only a 5 minute walk to the centre of Berrima, 3 minute drive to Bendooley Estate and 6 min’s to Centennial Vineyards. It’s a space that’s been designed to help you relax, and get away from it all, although you’ll still find every modern convenience you could possibly need. It also feels surprisingly large for a tiny home, with light streaming in the windows from your own private garden and the bushland beyond. And, yes, there are Kangaroos out there, all the time. In the mini-kitchen you’ll find SMEG appliances, a De’Longhi coffee machine, dishwasher and a microwave. There’s a generously sized TV with all the usual streaming services on demand. High speed WiFi, of course, and reverse cycle air-conditioning that heats the place up, or cools it down in minutes. In the perfectly formed bathroom you’ll find luxurious towels, a powerful shower and even a heated towel rack, with toiletries from Bare Body Beauty, a local business with natural ingredients and sustainability at heart. Outside there’s a covered seating area on your balcony, and a Ziggy Classic BBQ which you can simply admire, or even use if you’re feeling up to it. Nice to know it’s there at any rate. A fire pit was the only way we could finish the garden off, and after a night under the stars you can retire to the cabin, pull the blackout blinds and watch a movie from bed as you drift off to sleep.
This was a lovely stay and very well located. The home is seperate from the owners house but you do have to drive past there property to get to the air bnb which impacted your sense of privacy. HOWEVER, the hosts were very respectful and did not disturb us at all so it didn't really bother us. There was a lot of attention to detail and it was a cozy place to set up as a base for our stay.
A beautiful, peaceful spot to stay. We wished we had more time to stay and enjoy the location but unfortunately we had to rush off! The location is easy to find and very cute. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area and would definitely return!
Cozy and quiet space great for couples. Only stayed for a short period but could easily spend many days. My partner and I were very excited to see kangaroos from the backyard on arrival.
Berrima is a beautiful little village nestled in the bushland of the Southern Highlands, and was voted No.1 tourist village in the whole of NSW in 2021. A five minute walk takes you right into the centre where you’ll find lots of lovely shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants.
There’s the hatted Eschalot for an evening of fine dining, the more relaxed yet wonderful Josh’s Café and for a vineyard experience without leaving the village, check out Pepper Green Estate for a sumptuous lunch.
It’s rather a historic place too, with the best preserved Georgian Mansion in the country, Harper’s Mansion, run by the National Trust and open to visitors at the weekends. The old Gaol and imposing Courthouse, which is the sight of the first trial by jury in Australia. The welcoming Surveyor General is the oldest continuously licensed hotel in the country, and there’s a local Museum if you want to find out more about Berrima, bushrangers and the German prisoners of war…
Last Sunday of every month the famous Berrima markets are on, virtually right across the road, and there are loads of other markets across the Highlands, on most other weekends.
Another great thing about Berrima is you’re right in the middle of the Highlands, so you’re only ten mins to Bowral, Mittagong & Moss Vale, and thirty minutes gets you to Robertson.
We’re surrounded by vineyards, antique shops, waterfalls and lovely walks, although if you’re here for a wedding you might not have time. And with that in mind, here’s the exact times to all the local wedding venues.
Time from Kangaroo Cabin to:
- Hopewood House - Six Minutes
- Centennial Vineyards - Six Minutes
- Bendooley Estate - Three Minutes
You can walk into Berrima in five minutes, but if you want to explore the Southern Highlands a bit further, you'll need a car.
We’re only ten minutes from Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale too, so we’re right in the middle. Parking anywhere in the Highlands is pretty easy, and almost always free, although Bowral can get a little busy at the weekends if you’re trying to park on the main street.
