Please consider getting some bigger blankets for the beds. It was quite chilly at night and the sheets were small for two people. Overall, thanks for a great stay!

We stayed at Gihan's place for one day and it was a get together with school friends. I must say that it was great nothing much to complain. The amenities, cleanliness and the check in everything was so good.

Good place to stay in terms of property and location. Some essential Amenities were missing like wifi and toiletries. The host was easy to reach and kind enough to help us with some things.

Our stay at Gihan's was just OK. When we pulled up, the house was very grand and looked very striking but we were confused when we were met by 2 men who just stared at us, almost like we had intruded. It turned out they were the caretakers! There was no introduction from them. We had to ask them how our stay worked - they were not proactive in showing us around or providing any advice or information on the property or local area. It was also quite disconcerting when another random man just turned up to have a chat with them (we later found out he was one of the tuk tuk drivers). Perhaps he didn't realise that the house was booked! The riverside spot and views, especially of the sunset is very nice. It's a peaceful and picturesque setting and the swimming pool is large, clean and well maintained but that's where it ends for us. Looking around the inside of the property, it was clear to see the house is very tired looking and not very clean. Dust along tops of sockets and inside of the fridge! Thick grime in the showers, the floors were filthy and left the soles of our feet black within 30 minutes of arriving. We all wore flip flops indoors from then on. We were surprised having read the reviews and even the minivan driver told us house lovely and clean the house is! The bedroom are a nice size but a little odd. There is one blanket which is too small for the bed and no sheets, just a mattress protector. Luckily the bedding is clean. Mosquito nets have holes in. No hand towels in the bathrooms. Not enough furniture for our family other than the dining table. One very small sofa (with cushions covered in stains). A stack of dirty sunloungers outside that we didn't even want to sit on. There was always one caretaker on site, he stayed in a room off the main house. He cooked breakfast every morning which was ok. He did cook a nice dinner on the first night for us which was appreciated. The rest of the time, he sat out on the front porch watching shows on his phone. No interaction. No housekeeping (cleaning of rooms, making beds etc) other than wiping the dining table and sweeping the floor where we had eaten. The kitchen was out of bounds. If we went in to get a glass, he would jump up and run in to get it. While i'm sure he thought he was being helpful, it made us feel a little unwelcome. We were only at Gihan's place for 3 days so could stomach the issues, had it been any longer, i would definitely have been in touch with him and looked at leaving. The longer we were there, the more we couldn't wait to move on. This house has all the elements of being something amazing. It needs an investment of money to give it some love and care. A coat of paint, some new furniture and a good clean! I was also under the impression that the house was located in Bentota which is an error on my part because it's not. You'd have to get a tuk tuk even out to the shops on the main street. It was not in an area i'd choose to stay at again. Definitely not a 'holiday' spot - not that we want something touristy.

If you are looking for family getaway in a peaceful and private villa in south of Sri Lanka..... look no further ! Large 5 bedroom stylish villa with its own swimming pool overlooking the scenic Bentota river is absolutely breathtaking!
