多伦多 · 整套民居 · 4室4床3.5卫 · 可住10人 · Style beacon. The LightHouse @HighParkHomes .ca
Featured in Architecture Daily and Azure. A beacon of style in Toronto's best neighbourhood. Dazzling modern lines suffused with sunlight and sublime gardens. Full height glazing on every floor. Big windows screened by gardens and ornamental trees. Heated concrete floors. Custom cabinetry. Midcentury modern classic furnishings. Exquisite private garden space. All of this centrally located to enjoy the best of Toronto's urban offerings, its big parks and the Great Lake. The house is designed by Toronto's renowned LGA Architectural Partners, makers of some of the most iconic public and private spaces in Canada. The house has strikingly simple yet dramatic exterior lines. On the inside – "to a sculptural, sun-splashed effect," writes Design Lines magazine, "the architect graduated the ceiling heights from 2.7 metres in the kitchen and 3.6 metres in the sunken living room to a soaring 7.3 metres in the stairwell that leads to the bedrooms and study. As you ascend, skylights at the very top increase the home’s feeling of airiness." There is a hidden LED light system in the soaring stairway, "with settings that alternate between psychedelic swirls and soothing swathes of colour," says Design Lines. "The light fills the space, and the house glows." The home features heated floors on every level, polished concrete with gorgeous area rugs. The house is cooled by an ultra-modern central AC system. MAIN - Sunken living room with cast-concrete fireplace. Ten-foot-high sliding glass doors open onto a professionally landscaped and lovingly tended garden patio. Also on Main is the well-equipped kitchen and dining space, and a powder room. SECOND - Big queen bedroom with floor-to-ceiling southwest views of the back garden. Also, a spacious (15'x10') double bedroom with closet and also a desk and full north light views of the front garden. There is also a lounging area as well as a study/library. There is also a full bathroom on the second floor. THIRD - The principal bedroom (15'x10') with queen bed, ensuite full bathroom, and walk-in closet. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom have a private southern light overview of the secluded back gardens. LOWER - The space is bright and well-lit thanks to the window wells that run the length and width of the house. This 15'x23' space features a double bed and a sofabed. There is also a full bath attached.
What a beautifully designed home! It was thoughtfully appointed with wonderful furniture and artwork. Tons of art and design books to enjoy! Our family of four felt very comfortable and at home in the space. We love this neighborhood and especially this home and will look forward to visiting again!
Fantastic host! Fantastic home! Beautiful contemporary home nestled in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to many small shops and restaurants.
We enjoyed our stay here. The home is beautiful and clean and looks just like the photos.
Excellent hosts, super fast and responsive communication and the home was a dream! Highly recommend
Helen and George are excellent hosts. Well before the stay Helen shared very helpful and detailed information for parking and accessing the property. The location was perfect for us as it is in a quiet neighbourhood with Roncesvalle Ave. a short walk away, and it's still close enough to access the downtown core. While it was a brief overnight stay, there was plenty of room to accommodate a group of 5 to sleep comfortably. I would absolutely stay here again, and we appreciated Helen's proactive communication.
Locals rarely leave this neighbourhood because it offers everything: an eclectic mix of the best that cities and nature offers. Close by Lake Ontario beaches and the 400 acre forest of High Park, the streets in this low rise Old Toronto neighbourhood are teeming with excellent shops, restaurants, cafés, galleries, nightlife as well an abundance of services and great transit to the hectic high rise central core. This is a laid-back area where nature meets urban style - a quiet place to stay (and great for families) but a very short hop to the trendiest west side zones with the city's best eateries and entertainment. The municipal district is officially Parkdale-High Park. This corner of the district is known as Roncesvalles or "Roncy", regularly voted one of Toronto's most livable downtown neighbourhoods. 41 Garden sits where Roncy bumps into other trendy but authentic neighbourhoods: Dundas West, Little Portugal, Little Italy, West Queen West, Little Tibet, Osssington, Trinity-Bellwoods, Kensington Market.
We are 15-20 minutes drive from both airports.
It is 15 minutes drive to the downtown core of hectic high rise towers.
It is a 10 minute walk to the big beaches of Lake Ontario and the 400 acres of High Park, an old forest that is one of the largest urban parks in North America.
Public Transit: the Toronto Transit Commission operates the subway, streetcar (tram) and bus lines. Metrolinx operates the regional inter-city rail network called the GO Train as well as the downtown express train called the UP Express ("UPX").
The two nearest subway stations are Lansdowne or Dundas West.
Dundas West subway station is a short walk from the GO+UPX staton known as Bloor Station.
The nearest streetcar lines connecting to Dundas West station:
504 (Roncesvalles-King) - stops 500m from the house
505 (Dundas) - stops 1km from the house
501 (College) - stops 1km from the house
The 47 Bus connects at Lansdowne subway station.
The nearest bus stop at the corner of Lansdowne and Rideau is 500m from the house. Insider tip: the 47 bus is more frequent and often faster than the streetcars.
