Private luxury self-contained cottage just outside Sassafras in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges. A small but wonderfully cosy cottage amongst the camellia trees. This delightful two storey, one bedroom 'petite suite' is completely private. A 1930's build but recently renovated. What it lacks in size it makes up for in its cosiness. Suitable for a couple or single traveller, it is very popular with people attending nearby weddings or the villages. Continental Breakfast provisions provided. The living space is small but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in its cosiness! Downstairs there is a sitting room overlooking a private garden area. Upstairs there is a beautiful bathroom and bedroom with windows on 3 sides overlooking the treetops . Perfect for 1 or 2 people. Note there is no spa, kitchen or open fire in this cottage.

This sweet little cottage was so special! I’ve already recommended it to friends and family. It has tiny house vibes with a cute outdoor fire pit and marshmallows to go with it (we’ll be using these on our next visit). The perfect place to relax after a wedding in the Dandenong ranges. Sassafras is truly one of my favourite escapes. Perfect location, thoughtful hosts and the cutest place to stay! 10/10
Idyllic location, peaceful and feeding the birds was a real highlight
Gorgeous little cottage, stunning views & grounds. Birds eating just outside the window was a highlight for me. Chickens & tree swing a highlight for my little boy. Definitely worth a stay as it is near shops & restaurants, extremely clean & has all the little touches to be comfortable. Hosts went above & beyond.
We had a lovely stay and appreciated all the little details that made it special.

The cottage is just outside the village of Sassafras in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges. The area is known for its forest walks and gardens, abundant bird life, and quaint village shopping. There are numerous cafes and restaurants in the area.
A car is preferable when visiting the Dandenongs to make the most of all the area has to offer.
If using public transport then from Melbourne CBD you can take a train to Upper Ferntree Gully Station then the No. 688 bus to cnr Mt. Dandenong Tourist Rd and Clarkmont Rd Sassafras. A 150m walk gets you to our gate. Buses travel between the villages and most tourist locations, gardens and restaurants.

We began operating this beautiful, long-running establishment in March 2023, so while the listings are "new" on AirBnB, the property has been hosting guests for decades. We love the fantastic views, cafes and trails of the Dandenong Ranges and work well as a team to do that little extra for our guests to make their stay more enjoyable.
