Forest Lakes is surrounded by the Sitgreaves National Forest, home to the worlds largest strand of Ponderosa pine trees. It sits atop the Mogollon Rim at 7,700 feet elevation. Residents enjoy the best summer weather in the world with average temps in the mid 70's - only a scenic two hour drive from the Phoenix Valley and its hot summer weather! There are 4 seasons here and all times of year are good to visit. There's plenty of snow in winter and sledding is great on the property. Nearby lakes and streams teaming with fish are just minutes away. Lakes and ponds nearby have lots of trout stocked in the summer. The area is home to very diverse wildlife with deer, elk and wild horses. The “Forest Lakes horses” are frequent visitors to the community! The surrounding Forest has hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, biking, riding horses or UTV's. There are trail access points throughout the neighborhood. Forest Lakes has two general stores (one has gas) that are open from Spring to end of fall and a very good full service restaurant, The 260 Roadhouse.

Our cabin is on the south (quiet) side of Forest Lakes, and the property backs to national forest. There’s not much traffic or dust on the well-maintained dirt roads, so they are perfect for outdoor walks for exploring the neighborhood. The south end of Pinto Rd transitions into a few trails that can be hiked, biked or driven with off-road vehicles. It’s a mountain paradise!
