大伦敦 · 出租单元里的独立房间 · 1室2床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Hidden Den in Central London
Sumptuous four poster bed, hidden in the heart of London, with adjoining sitting room, and a separate private bathroom with double-ended bath. A private space to enjoy an intimate London adventure. Situated on the lower ground floor of my apartment in Clerkenwell, near Farringdon station. Walk to the West End, Covent Garden, and River Thames in 20 minutes, with the British Museum, Oxford Street, Tate Modern nearby. The tube is 5 minutes walk, with direct connections from most airports. The Den is a very private space, more like it’s own separate apartment then a room in a shared space. You have three rooms at your disposal: a bedroom, an interconnecting sitting room and a separate bathroom accessed via yet another sitting room that although shared is never used when we have guests staying. The space is a mixture of sumptuous furnishings and industrial chic. The bathroom has marble floors and glitzy lighting. The bedroom has vintage furniture & wonderful four poster bed with an incredible $6000 mattress and huge mirrors salvaged from a vintage store. The ‘Opium Den’ bathroom is cozy with a lovely shower and a full size bath - perfect for a relaxing candle-lit soak after a long day of sightseeing. The apartment itself has served as an art gallery, speakeasy and secret live music / party venue for Britpop bands in the 90s. Now it’s an Oasis of calm in the Blur of the city! Please note that the room is on the lower ground floor, and has just one window that opens into a lightwell, so there is limited natural light and no view.
We had a really nice stay and felt immediately at home thanks to the very warm welcome that James and his daughter (and the cats) gave us. We'll definitely consider the appartment again for our next stay in London.
Perfect location and a supernice Room! James is a great host in all ways. Can truly recomend!
Clerkenwell / Farringdon is a historic area full of media companies and architects (Zaha Hadid HQ) and fashion designers (McQueen HQ). Stalin worked n the library on Clerkenwell Green which was famous for riots and protests. Further back, William Wallace, who led the Scottish rebellions was hung on the corner if Smithfield Market. Often used as a film location, and known as the ‘Mayfair of East London’, it is the ideal base as you can get to so many places on foot - the river and Tate modern, the British museum and Covent Garden, soutalfields and east London markets, Angel Islington - all within 20 minutes walk.
Farringdon tube and train station (Zone 1) is 5 mins walk. You can get direct to Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports, and Eurostar is just one stop on the tube.
Buses to Oxford Street and the west end stop outside the building.
We are very central so it’s easy to walk to many places from or hire a bike!
