Quiet area 5 minutes walk to the sea. Toms House is set to the eastern quieter end of Hayling Island.
Walks along the coastline direct from the house reveal stunning views to the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and the Spinnaker Tower, many ships out to sea, the famous West Wittering Beach and the South Downs.
Toms House is a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk to Hayling Island Sailing Club and all its events.
It is an ideal place to stay if you love sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, paddle boarding, fishing or just enjoying being by the sea.
It is a beach walkers paradise. On a sunny day you could think yourself in the South of France. Sunsets are beautiful, calm seas are tranquil and the waves when its windy a stunning sight.
The beach although pebbly has sandy spots at high tide and as the tide goes out more sand is exposed. The sea is safe to paddle and swim. (with the exception of the beaches nearer to the sailing club and ferry ends as these are affected by the harbour tides).
The Island:-
There are numerous Pubs, Restaurants and Tea Rooms on the island. Some pubs/restaurants are walkable within 20-30 mins. There is a bus stop 2 min walk with a very frequent bus service.
Pitch and Putt. Golf at Tournebury and at the famous Hayling Island Golf Club.
We have Alpacas and a Donkey sanctuary to visit. Seasonal sunflower farm. Tennis Courts.
For the children there is Hayling Funfair, a skate park and 2 play parks as well as a choice of beaches all along the south coast of the island. There is also a miniature railway walkable from the house which will take you along the Coast to the Funfair.
The Island has a Community Theatre where community shows and general release films are staged regularly.
The Hayling Billy disused railway line is a great place for walkers and cyclists. You can walk up the Billy along the West Coast to the top of the Island and the Ship Inn or Royal Oak pub and then catch a local bus back to the bus stop near Toms House.
You can catch a small ferry to take you to Eastney where you can catch a bus or take your bikes and cycle to Southsea and Portsmouth.
30 mins drive to Portsmouth with Gunwharf Quays, The Docks with the Mary Rose, the Victory and the Warrior.
30 mins drive to the market and cathedral city of Chichester.
30 minutes drive to the South Downs.

Frequent local bus service at the end of the road into the main village of Mengham and to the secondary shopping area of West Town then going off the Island to Havant and its train service to Portsmouth and Chichester and London.
Parking on the beaches is paid parking as it is in Mengham (subject to a small designated 20 minute area.) The beach is however a 5 min walk from the sea.
We can guide you to a free parking area 5-7 min walk for access to the Funfair and beaches further along the coast.
